Check Engine Light

Need some help.

2012 R-Spec with 5182 miles. Check engine light comes on this morning when I turn the car on. The car is also shaking a little(while in park). I took it straight to the dealer and the car runs fine on the way there.

Just got a call from the dealership saying there is no code from the check engine light and they are reseting the computer. They are going to take it for a test drive to make sure there is no other issues.

Has this happened to anyone? Should I be concerned about something else?

Good luck... one of the local dealers looked at me with the classic 'dear in headlights'....

So far I'm not too much success with competent service tech's / writers / managers in my area...

UPDATE:

So I picked up the car up last night. Talked to the service rep about the Forum and some of the things posted and she said she has read them but most of the problems were on the 2010 and 2011 models. She said the 2012 models have the item fixed. Not sure I believe that given what I have seen in the Forum???

I drove the car home last night and to work this morning and needless to say the car ran ALOT smoother and the small delay in the accelerator was gone. Also seems tighter from a steering, handling point of view. Its only been a day (1 night) but so far it seems better.

Did you staret your car up thenturn it off qithout letting the car warm up? This happened to me 2 times, when moving it quickly on my driveway. The next time car started after the quick move, the car rattled like crazy and the check engine light came on, after drinvg the net time, everything went back to normal. I will bring this up to my dealership, but now I let the car idle for a few minutes befor shutting down to avoid further issues.

Invest in an inexpensive OBDII scanner. Actron makes a few that are ~$50. Best investment you can make. If the CEL came on you most definitely threw a code.

Simply plug it into the OBDII port and read the 4 digit code. You can get all codes off the web.

Ha! I noticed your signature states your tint. I used Suntek Carbon on my car 35% all around

Regarding the rough idle issue, just let the engine settle down after starting it which takes about 30 seconds, but longer when it's colder (a couple of minutes even) outside. I consider it the "choke" right at startup, which RPM's are high to heat up the cats quickly for pollution control. Once that settles down, you're good to go.
