  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Here is my story at 59,700 mile my Genesis 5.0 check engine light comes. I take to dealership they find code order part. I have to bring car back in four days. I take back they put part on on Monday I pick up car. On Wednesday the light comes back on. Today they say it's showing same code. They asking me if I have extended warranty because it's not covered because it's over 60,000 miles . Anyone have info for me so I don't blow up in this shop?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
My response would be to contact the Regional Service Manager for Hyundai and give them the details of the incident - the repair was done under warranty but was not done correctly and the problem was not fixed - therefore you want the repair successfully completed.

That's what I was trying to say! First time I used Hyundai of Longview but really didn't expect this kind of service. I'm really disappointed

Ditto. They should force the dealer to fix it again under warranty.

What code is the ECU throwing? Make sure to ask anytime your CEL comes on (or check yourself) as the PXXXX code usually points to a specific problem. It would show fuel or evap related issues.

Thank you I will . They are saying they will have to replace gas tank at my cost..

I would ask for the PXXXX code in person rather than over the phone so you can tell if they are legitimately pulling from their notes or the car rather than picking a problem at random and then listing the associated P code. Once you have the P code (say P3551) you can google 'Hyundai Genesis P3551' and generally get multiple responses very quickly detailing the likely cause of the issue.

Replace the gas tank? I'd have them start with the charcoal canister if I were paying.

WHAT!?!?!?!?! That is the dumbest response I think I've ever heard. First they accuse you of overfilling the tank then say it has to be replaced? That makes no sense at all. Even if you overfilled the tank it would not hurt the tank itself. It might ruin the charcoal canister that is there to trap fumes but that isn't the same thing as the gas tank.

Start keeping a diary and be prepared to submit it to the Regional Service Manager.
