  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm asking if anyone else has experienced their driver side door handle peeling or chipping. At first I thought it was just smudge, however the more I clean the worse it became. I have pictures although it's really difficult to get the full visual by camera. Do you think this is a warranty concern? My 3years are up in July 2012.

Aside from contact with rings on your fingers, or keys, etc. in hand when grabbing the handle, the finish has failed -I'd get it fixed before you time out of your warranty.

I'm reminded of a Canon camera I had in my youth; there were jokes everytime my brother saw it. The oil from my nose had actually eaten into the black paint on the back of the camera (where contact was made), and stripped all the paint off! He called it "toxic nose grease".

Have you greasy hands, sir, if I may ask?
;)

Actually I have dry dishpan hands..
You have me wondering about some mechanic's use of grease cleaner on his hands. But still, a door handle should be able to tolerate a little skin oil...

Warranty fix. See dealer asap.

That's what I was thinking.
Out of curiosity, I placed my left hand in the position I use to open the door and actually, none of my hand touches the places of the discoloration and chipping.
I was hesitant to bring it up because none of the other door handles exhibit this condition.

Update:
Stopped by dealer to have them take a look at the door handle Jasen Nowacki (Hyundai's tech of the year) came out to look at it and determined that the paint had been compromised due to no fault of my own. They replaced the handle with no problem. Got it done under the wire of my warranty expiration.
