  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Chrome side trim on 3.8

I pulled the trigger and ordered from the same vendor as Lou. Paid on the 11th, shipped on the 12th, at my office by the end of business on the 14th. If only my emblems from KDM would come this fast. Been two weeks since they "shipped" from Korea...still waiting. Thanks for the information on this.

Great, do you have their phone# or direct email?
I want to drive there and have them install.THNX

I'm trusting the prior posts on how easy it is to instal the chrome side trim.
I ordered it and it's on it's way...can't wait to get it on, but praying it's as easy as everyone says. My 3.8 is only a week old and I don't want to damage it.

Just did mine. I used a popsicle stick to get my finger tips behind the existing trim. It popped right off. Rotate the existing clip 90 degrees and they fall right out.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I ordered the chrome trim from Korean Auto Imports and it took forever but it looks great! Came in Hyundai / Kia packaging! Dresses the vehicle up nicely!

The KAI site shows a combination chrome and paint on this trim. Is that what you bought, or is it all chrome like VIP_Snow sells on eBay?

It's all chrome and looks great! Very happy with the chrome trim!

I just installed...snapped-on is more like it the side chrome. All I can say is OMG!
I have a black on black 3.8 with limo tinted windows, and the chrome just set it off!!! I could not be more happier, thanks for the posts on this guys.

All I can say is "what's next?"

Purchased chrome trim from VP_SNOW on ebay. First class vendor. Shipped same day I placed order, 3 day Fed X (not snail mail like most vendors). OEM Mobis parts in sealed cartons. 15 minute removal of old trim and install of new. Looks really good on car.
Still have trim removed. (Titanium Gray Metallic) PM me if you can use it, just pay shipping.
Someone wanted Mobis P/N’s of chrome trim: RH 87712 3M010, LH 87711 3M010

Did you pay by credit card, or Paypal? How much did you pay?

How did the trim clips fare? Did any fall inside the door? Does the new trim come with clips, or do you reuse the old ones?

Offered $120.00 which VP-SNOW accepted. Paid with MC.
Used nylon putty knife to remove original trim. Clips stayed on car. they are nylon and did not break away from door with trim pieces.
Quarter trun clockwise clips come out of holes.
Mobis OEM trim comes with new clips installed just push them into holes along with chrome trim piece and your done.
I saved old clips and reinstalled them back on the removed trim.

Great info & THNX!

Would a plastic kitchen pancake flipper, or a spatula, work?

I think just about anything thin enough to get under the trim pieces would work.
I pried the rounded corners at the front and back of the door trim with my finger nail and slipped the nylon putty knife under the trim piece. Then I just pushed the putty knife along pulling the trim off the clips.

BWT I still have the original trim and clips if anyone needs them they are yours just for the shipping cost. (Titanium Gray Metallic, Paint code NY) Just PM me if you’re interested. :)

I finally ordered these yesterday from Korean Auto Imports. I grew tired of waiting for Snow to answer my question about whether he did local installation of his products. Simple question; no response. Guess his biz is under the radar.

I also ordered from VIP_SNOW, he is in Maryland Baltimore Ares. He sent by FedEx and I received with no problem. It took me 20 mins to pull out black plastic molding. Install chrome modling? It only took me a min for all four side.

I also placed another orders for my Genie 3.8, emblems, caps, and mood light dome too. It seems like all items will be here on Monday, so I will post all installation and picture of new shaped Genesis.

Anybody have Snow's phone number????

So, my chrome (plastic) side trim arrived today from Korean Auto Imports, aka Sherwood Automotive. These are stock OEM parts delivered in the original Hyundai boxes. Took me about half an hour to pop off the body colored original trim, wash and dry the area and pop in the new stuff. Wow, this was an easy job and so worth the bang per buck on the improved look.

Just to rehash what others have said here, I used a hard plastic kitchen spatula (flapjack turner) to pry it off, starting at the B pillar for all doors. Once you get it lifted and started, just use the spatula as a lever to pop it off as you work your way down the door. Then, pull out the old clips after turning them. Clean the area, pop in the new trim and Wowzer! Everybody here should buy a set pronto. The side of my car used to look a bit dull and now it pops!

Later in the day I drove through the nearby Hyundai dealer's lot and my car was the only Genesis (of six there) with chrome side trim. Cheap thrills, but almost as fun as adding wing emblems.
