If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings, after trying a couple of after market rims that just couldn't quite clear those big front brake calipers, I am considering having the OEM 18" wheels chromed.

After doing some research on these boards it appears that one fellow has used a company called Wheel Concepts http://www.wheelconcepts.com with good success and there is another company called OEM Rims Inc. http://www.oemrims.com that advertises on ebay.

Looking for additional feedback on either one of these companies (positive or negative) or others that I may not be aware of.

Thank you!

I live near Anaheim and I took my rims to OEM rims. They did a great job. They had the chrome rims at the store and just swapped wheels with me. They were also able to chrome the Genesis wing center caps ( had to wait one week after dropping off the caps) so my rims are now custom.

Any change of you posting a picture of the rims please.

I see you're a Boston fan!!! by the reflection in your picture, it doesn't appear you live in New England. Its good to see the Bruins represented elsewhere!

You are very observant regarding the reflection! Born and raised in the Boston area and residing now in sunny Gilbert, AZ! We, of course, needn't reflect upon the B's most hasty exit from the playoffs....or the Celts devastating game 7 loss...lets go Red Sox!

Not sure if I was the fellow you were referencing who used Wheel Concepts. But just in case, I did use them and my wheels are doing just fine. The wheels have been on the car over a year and I have experienced no pressure issues at all. They wheels hold the recommended air pressure just the same as non-chromed wheels. Real simple exchange process with Wheel Concepts (via ebay) and an equally simple wheel swap with a local tire shop. I didn't have a clue where to get the wheels swapped. So, I used a place recommended by The Tire Rack to do the swap. There are pictures on here I posted right after I put them on. Let me know if you have any questions.

It would be interesting to know if the chrome wheels on the Eqqus will work on the Genesis. Will the Genesis wing or H emblem fit in the center of the wheel cap where the Eqqus emblem is and can the Genesis TPM be transfered to the Eqqus wheel with no problems?

I think the Equus uses 19x9 wheels with a staggered tire size setup. The bolt pattern is probably the same as the 5x114.3 bolt pattern is pretty standard among Asian car manufacturers. I appears that the Equus has the same front calipers as the Genesis 4.6 but I cannot confirm this. The only big question is the offset used on the Equus. Since the Equus uses a wheel that is 1.5" wider offset will be critical. The tpms should swap over with no problems. On another thought, the Mustang uses the same bolt pattern and the GT500 has large Brembo calipers. There might be some opportunities there as there is a huge selection of wheels for this car. The tpms should swap to these wheels as well. The only unknown right now is the issue of hub centering rings or boring the hub to fit. Not insurmountable but needs to be addressed. Also the Subaru STI and the Mitsubishi EVO have the same bolt pattern and use large Brembo calipers which presents other opportunities assuming the offset is correct. It is too bad that someone like Tire Rack or Discount Tire do not seem to have a way to cross reference this. My last car was a Australian built GTO and wheels were very difficult to find due to the offset and tight wheel wells. It took a lot of trial and error to get custom wheels. The only car that comes close is the BMW 1 series. The GTO (Holden) and BMW are the only 2 manufacturers in the world that use the 5x120 (.65mm smaller than the standard GM 5x4.75) bolt pattern and then hub rings had to be custom made to center the wheels.

Chrome wheels up here where winters are brutal do not last more than a couple seasons, no matter how well you care for them. Then again the factory painted wheels do not fare much better, but they will hold air a couple years longer.

I prefer chrome wheels, so I keep a winter set of wheels.

Discount Tire offers two Chrome wheels for the Genesis 4.6 V8 18" wheel, the TSW Cadwell and MB CLS. I am leaning towards the MB CLS. I would like to know if anyone has any imput on these wheels.
Thanks.......

I've have a 2010 4.6 Tech with MB CLS 19 x 8 (30 mm offset) in front rolling with 255/40R19 Conti Pro Contacts and MB ClS 19 x 9 (45 mm offset) rears with 275/40R19 Conti Pro Contacts. This has been a terrific combination without any issues. Hope this helps....

I am now thinking about the wheel exchange with Wheel Concept. I see you have had the wheels for over a year with no problems. What are your winters like? Any road salt? Wheel Concept told me that I must use care when cleaning the center caps as the finish is not chrome and can be scratched easy.

There is a company called US Wheel Exchange that uses a process called Permachrome. If Permachrome is all that they make it out to be I sure would like to have a set. They do not list wheels for the Hyundai so you would probably have to send your wheels in. Has anyone heard of Permachrome,it almost sounds to good to be true? They offer a great Warranty.
