Hi,
So I have mentioned this in various threads but I do have some clatter from one cylinder bank. I have a 2015 5.0.
It is usually present, sometimes not. My buddy (who is very knowledgeable with cars) has said it's likely the hydraulic lash adjusters not working properly. he said it typically involves taking off the valve covers and is not too hard to do.
However, I looked at my factory manual and it says the transmission needs to be removed to do this job. That makes no sense to me as the lifters are accessed from the top end. I can see taking off the intake manifold but not the transmission.
Has anyone had to have lifters (i.e., lash adjusters) replaced before and if so, how much was it? I have an extended warranty that's supposed to cover internal engine lubricated components, but the warranty is from Ford and they have been proper ba$tards in the past. Suburbanzine, do you have any thoughts?
Thanks.
