  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I did some searching, but did not find any details on this question:

I have a '12 3.8 Genesis. My wife prefers not to use the "Auto" setting on the air conditioner due to an eye condition. We use the regular a/c setting; when the recirculate is not engaged, the fan varies in speed. It is most noticeable when you are stopping and starting. If the fan is set to 2 "clicks", when you approach a stop light, the fan kicks up to 4 clicks; when the light changes and the car starts moving, the fan steps back down to 2 clicks. This does not happen when the recirculate mode is on.

I previously had an Azera with the auto/manual a/c, but the fan speed did not vary when stopping.

My dealer said there is an air volume sensor that determines when stopping that the fan needs to increase speed to maintain air movement; when you get rolling, it ramps down.

Does your '12 act this way? It is just a annoyance at higher fan speeds because of the shifiting up and down.

Love the car otherwise.

PS, the mechanic at the dealer told me to carry 37 lbs in the tires to accommodate the change in air temp as things moderate. I had the TPMS warning come on a few times internmittently.

Best to all!

if your wife cannot tolerate the air blowing directly into her eyes, i assume she moved the direction of the vent so that it doesn't blow on her?

i actually have not noticed that the vent speed is any different when the car is at a stop, but then a little bit of wind doesn't bother me.

I have an 09, it changes automatically from vent to auto defrost. Sometimes it changes from fan only to air conditioning when my front windshield fogs up.
Wonder if it has a sensor.

Look behind your rearview mirror and you'll see the sensor. The system sends the air through your EVAP system to remove the humidity and defrost the window.
