  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I did a back to back test drive of a 2012 4.6 and 2011 4.6. Aside from the difference in exterior styling, I really could not convince myself of any significant differences between the 2. The driving experience was very similar. I tried to discern whether the suspension was any different, but could not feel a difference. I tried to see if the road noise was any improved in the 2012 due to the Michelin tires, but again I could not appreciate any difference.

The only obvious difference was that the steering wheel required a bit more effort in the 2012.

I didn't really care for the new features such as the folding mirrors and lane departure alert, so I decided to save myself almost $3000 and went with the 2011 4.6. I was pleasantly surprised that on the drive home, I was getting 30 MPG cruising on the freeway at 70 MPH.

I think the new 8 speed tranny would have been nice to have, but it is a new unproven unit, whereas the 6 speed ZF has a good track record.

buddy, you are going to start WWIII.

Congrats on your purchase. Thanks for the review....

(I hope your helmet is on, cause it's coming)

I'll have to drive it myself but if the ride is no better then I'll pass. The 2011 drive wasn't unecessarily harsh but it was nervous to me. The 2010 TL AWD is like being on magnets...you feel the bumps but its all so smooth, firm and confident.

Folding mirrors?!? LDWS?!?
Man stuff trickled down from the Equus awfully fast.
I was ripped off!
;)

Oh!he forgot DRL, heated rear seats, chime tone, different display for odometer and gear selection and the damping is better when you go over rough pavement. You were not ripped off you still have a real nice car in the Equus.

WWIII, he will think it's the end of the world when they get done with him.

Have you driven the v8? I agree that the v6 ride is nervous and that's why I chose the v8. I also drove the TL and to me the genesis v8 rides more luxuriously.

Yep, drove the 2011 4.6. It is a much more luxurious ride until one hits a rough patch of road and then to me the ride becomes jittery and doesn't come back to stop like its on hydraulics. The TL does. The TL was never meant to be luxurious. It is definitely sports luxury.

Mind you I really like the Genesis. The best value in town re: luxury, quality, reliability, features, etc.

i didn't know the R spec would cost more than the 4.6.
did you get quotes from you agent on both?

my impression is that there is no significant difference between 3.8 v 4.6 v 5.0..
With all due respect, I am going to have to try this test myself. Didn't know there would be a price difference? Yikes!
