  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Complete brake failure on two occasions

Have any of you filed a report of your brake problems with the NHTSA?? Seems like it would be a good thing to do.

I would also ask those of you who have had this problem to report it to the NHTSA. If enough people write, they will force Hyundai to do a recall for the defective part, potentially saving someone's life.

They replaced the ABS module. They knew what the problem was right away. Said that they had replace a number of others and that its a known problem on the 2009

I just had a similar issue with my 2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8L

I was stopped at a red light in the left turn lane. All of a sudden I was rolling forward while my food was firm on the brake. I was able to press the brake even further, but I kept rolling forward until I crashed into the car in front of me. Thankfully, it was a very sturdy truck with a trailer hitch. I have damage to my grill where the hitch hit my car. The brake pressed to the floor and did not stop my car from rolling forward. I was able to drive the car to the closest parking lot in that intersection. I waited for a tow to the dealership. The brakes seemed to work fine again; the service department told me there was nothing wrong with my car or its brakes. I left the car with the mechanic to drive home and continue to test it to reinact the problem. When I googled "hyundai genesis brake failure", there were a few other instances of this issue. I am so scared to drive my car again.

Posted on similar threads on this site stating brake problems.

When I had the brake fluid changed out on my Genesis I asked my Technician if the TB Hyundai issued was due to the reported brake failure / fading reported.

He said no that Hyundai just decided that DOT 4 synthetic was the correct brake fluid for these vehicles.

He went on to explain that the intermittent failures and fading brake problems was traced back to the ABS units. It seems that some of these ABS units had air bubbles internally and no matter how many times they were bled all of the air bubbles couldn’t be removed, so the policy was just to replace them when there was complaints of intermittent brake failure / fading.

This could be your problem. There are threads on this site detailing these braking problems, but what my technician told me about the ABS unit problem was the first time I heard this explanation

Thanks for your note. You reminded me of this one time the exact thing happened and I completely forgot. Luckily my car was in park along a curb, no one in front, except a CHP behind me.

I'll keep an eye out for the problem some more just in case.

Update: Car was totaled. Hyundai refused to inspect the car as did the dealer. They said since it was a total loss and I was paid its their car and they refused to look into it. Couldn't afford the out of pocket for atty and none would work a deal. Basic moral of the story: don't trust car dealers, don't trust car warranties, don't trust insurance companies and be smart, follow my lead....get a Jeep. At least if there's ever another accident, unless its a bus or huge truck, it's all under me....I'll drop in 4x4 and roll right over...lol.

One World, One Life, One Love, One Government
The world is in need of some changes soon or there's
not going to be much left. We're all made of the same
'Stardust'....as is everything around you. It means we're all
connected....like it or not. Hit one side of the globe and its
felt all over....sadly, if the US attacks Syria, it's just another
occasion of us cutting off our nose to spite our face.
Don't intend to preach, just telling the truth everyone is denied.
Question: who gets and gives better pricing for the Soviet oil
pumped through those pipelines running through Syria?
........Think about it!
