If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I own a 2009 Genesis V6 Tech. This week something strange happened. My wife went out to start the car and came in and said the car was dead. When outside to investigate and the car was completely dead. What was odd was I had no issues the day before.

I opened up the trunk to access the battery and I noticed a 50 Milliamp Fuse, I pulled the fuse out and inspected it and found no damage. I then reseated and all of sudden my car got electrical power back. I was able to start and operate the vehicle without issue.

Then today I head out, jump in to start the car, immediately lose total electrical power. Reseat the fuse again and power is restored.

Needless to say, I dropped it off at the dealer to investigate this issue. Anybody else have this issue?

My Genny only has 38K miles on it. So it's not heavily used.

Was the car able to start using the key slot in the dash?

Myself and a few others have had issues with a "dead" car and the problem was the yellow master fuse located on the driver side dash with an open door. The fuse was loose and not seated correctly. Once the fuse was seated back in, the car lit right up. I'm not sure which fuse you are talking about in the trunk though since I've never paid any attention to them, but sounds like a fuse is loose??

Keep us updated on what the dealer finds.

Have you tested the battery? Weird things will happen when the battery is in the border line of electrical components' operating voltage.

Check the ground connections to the battery and the body in the trunk. When pulling and replacing the fuse you most likely moved the ground wire slightly. Also the battery could be failing.

Got my car back from the dealer and they were able to resolve the issue. I had the battery replaced back in Nov 2013. Apparently the post needed a shim and was not making good contact. By me removing the fuse and reseating it, I actually push down enough to restore connectivity. This is what the dealer told me. Since they replaced the battery, there was not charge for this repair cause it was under warranty.

However, I did not get out of there unscathed. I had the 37.5K service and the front brakes, which I noticed were getting worn, replaced.

I'll let you all know if they electrical issue returns, but I hope this is the end of it.

What was the issue with the front brakes? Many people are getting over 100,000 miles out of the front and rear pads and rotors. What else did you have done? According to Hyundai, there is nothing to be done until the coolant flush which is 5 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first.

The Dealer informed me that the pads were getting below specs and should be replaced. I noticed that my bakes were not gripping as usual, so I let them replace them.

I still have 20% of front pads left after 127,000 miles on my 2011 4.6. I guess there really is a difference in the brake quality between the 3.8 and 4.6. I know the 4.6 has larger brakes with 4 piston calipers. But 37.5k miles is short brake life unless its mostly city stop and go driving. Also the OP forgot to mention that the battery had recently been replaced which points directly to a loose cable as the most likely cause.

at < 40k miles your brakes should be fine, unless you drive it like a track car. Dealer hosed you.

Did you check the ground? Often they just need a cleaning for better contact, same with the cable to the starter.

Thanks!!! I have a 2011 Equus and it has been going completely dead on me off and on. I checked the yellow master fuse like you said and it was, in fact, loose. I pushed it all the way in and power was restored. My only question is how was power being restored before I pushed the fuse in. Before that, I would let it sit for hours and then I would have power again 🤔.

The loose yellow fuse was my issue, so I thought. What fixed my issue was replacing my battery that had issues and wasn't holding a charge.

Check your battery and report back.

I have a 2012 5.0 (non r-spec) and I have been having a similar issue, please let me know if this is the "dead car" that you're talking about
When I come to my car all auxiliary power is dead, remote lock/unlock, dome lights, infotainment system (radio navigation etc..), I need to put the key in the slot to start it and once it is started I get a TPMS light, when the car turns off it dies (gauges freeze, no goodbye chime, no easy access steering wheel/nothing moves back). Usually, after some time, the car returns to normal. This has even happened while I was driving and after 2 minutes everything started up again.
Please advise if this sounds similar to what you experienced. I was literally about to take it to a mechanic to diagnose. Thank you!

Test your battery or take your car to a battery joint like Interstate Battery and have them test your battery. My bet is your battery is toast and a replacement would solve your problems.

I would if the battery was not 3 months old, besides all they do is put a load and see if it has the rated CCA, However, i did check and my master fuse was like half way out so my bet is that was the problem. Thank you!

Clean your Battery Terminals and posts on your battery. That might just solve your problem. Make sure your Terminal ends are sitting all the way down on the posts and square .
