  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Complete Loss of Electrical Power

my moms car 2013 Equus is having the same issue. The dealer said it needed a shim. Does Hyundai know if they don't have another issue requiring a recall? Putting shims and pushing in loose fuses just seem sus.

What is meant by needing a shim? I may have found the solution to the problem but I need to drive the car around a few more days, without it completely losing all power, before I post the results. The dealership has been no help to me.

My mechanic fixed this issue by spreading the positive clamp on the battery and added a cotter pin and then tightened the clamp. No more issues

Got my car back from the dealer and they were able to resolve the issue. I had the battery replaced back in Nov 2013. Apparently the post needed a shim and was not making good contact. By me removing the fuse and reseating it, I actually push down enough to restore connectivity. This is what the dealer told me. Since they replaced the battery, there was not charge for this repair cause it was under warranty.

However, I did not get out of there unscathed. I had the 37.5K service and the front brakes, which I noticed were getting worn, replaced.

I'll let you all know if they electrical issue returns, but I hope this is the end of it.
I discovered the same thing in my 2014. The negative battery cable couldn’t be tightened anymore than it was. Had to use a shim. I have No idea how it went on that way for so long. You’d a thought a big bump would have knocked it off.

2010 Genesis issues. Car will not start or accessories come on. No dashboard lights no headlights.

checked all fuses and relays. Battery is good and brake light switch is good. Key fob not dead. HELP!

Wiggle your battery wires and see which one is loose. Mine was the positive. Added a shim and all is well

Simply use a voltage tester using the top of each battery post to rule out a dead battery. If it's ok, it's probably the battery post clamps which are notorious for not tightening properly on the battery posts. I had this issue and took the battery posts off and bent the unit enough that reinstalling them gave them a very tight grip on the posts. Not any issues now for almost a year.

I am having the same issue with my 2011 Genesis. Have you been able to resolve you issue?
Normally those type of symptoms are caused by the BCM malfunction as it controls those features

I have a 2017 G80 Genesis, I lost all power too. I thought that since the battery was older it was the problem. But I continued to have complete loss of power with the new battery I put in. I couldn't figure it out and neither could the dealership but this forum helped me it was a loose positive terminal on the battery.
Thank you everyone.

Use your mechanical key to open the trunk.

Thanks, got it open...I shall read the manual to find out if it can be jump started....or call AAA
Jump start terminals are under the hood. After you connect the other running car, give it a few minutes to partially charge the battery before you try starting it.

I have a 2017 genesis g80. Lost of all power it seems after cutting front wheels when trying sharp turn into parking lot space. All power dies out. I get out car. Hit door button and power back on. Had battery and alternator checked. Was told both are in good condition. Any ideas..? Is this a positive battery terminal issue or positive cable..?
