  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Complimentary GPS update from Hyundai Assurance

Complimentary GPS update completed today. There are some strange circumstances surrounding this update.

First- updated map version: 03.00.00 2010.04.30.10 Not sure what these numbers mean forgot to check number before update but don’t like the look of that “2010.04.30.10”. Second - time assigned to task by tech ( 1 hour ). From all I’ve seen on this site it’s very unlikely a normal update can be done that fast. The description of the task appears to state it was updated. Does anybody have any insight to that version number the car is a 2011 Dis equipped NAV system. Another notable anomaly no data loss all original address info was intact. Other than that works fine….always did.

I have been curious to know the current version if the map software. Assuming the second string of numbers is a date, I have seen is 2012.04.14. My car, which I was assured 3 times was current , has 2011.05.27. I would really like to know what the current version is.

I had the update done yesterday. I don't know how long it took, since the dealer had the car all day. I'll take a look at the map version no. today if I remember how to display it.

Very curious about your version as as our production dates are probably close.

I think that number is what my car came with in June 2010. Mine is also a 2011 tech with DIS. I would think that the new update should have 2012 or 2013 in the numbering.

Called dealer was told “It’s an update DVD” sent by Hyundai for this update. Awaiting call back with explanation of version number question.
I’m beginning to think this a is an update to fix a functional problem sort of like a patch not really a full Nav update. The window of production dates for eligible cars lends itself to that strategy.

It is DVD based. Six, if I remember correctly. When I had mine updates a few months ago, they installed 03.00.00 2012.04.14.01

Go to Navi>Settings>NAVI information to see the version installed.

Been there….did that. Dealer called back insisted update was installed. I believe him. I think this is a case of Hyundai instead of issuing a service bulletin for said window of production is providing an “Update”. As opposed to an “Upgrade” which is of course the lengthy costly one. To use an older vernacular a patch. (Remember only one DVD) I’m okay with that since I really didn’t want to roll the dice with the upgrade. Any way next year they’ll be a 2015 in the garage.

My version is now 03.00.00 2012.09.01.01. I think there are some new streets near my home that weren't on the map when I got the car. The update was billed as having new roads and POIs.

Waveman was yours the “Complimentary Update” also ?

Yes, it was based on the card I got from Hyundai Assurance that said that the update includes newer information (roads, POIs, etc.). I wish I had made note of the version prior to the update, but I'm pretty sure it was dated 2010. The one thing that surprised me was that the service advisor called after I dropped the car off to say that my destinations and other preferences would be deleted and asked if it was OK to go ahead. However, when I picked up the Genesis, all the prior destinations were intact. I've since read that that can be saved and restored, so maybe that's what they did.

Mine was also updated (for free) in July 2013 and this is the version that my unit now shows. I have the free update card but have not yet set up an appointment.

They haven't sent me a free update card yet. Does anybody know if 03.00.00 2012.04.14.01 is the latest version available?

As stated above, there is at least a version dated 2012.09.01 out there. My guess is the latest one is even newer.

Just went out and checked mine (2011 4.6 tech). Map version is:

03.00.00 2012.09.01.01

hard to believe it takes over a year to produce a NAVI map, but there it is.

Waited 2 days for a call back from Hyundai customer service no go so I called them back. A gentleman named Steve answered my call back and was more knowledgeable about the problem then the first person. He told me what the dealer had installed was version 6 and said that version 7 had just come out in Oct. Apparently the dealer did not have the latest version. I don’t think they even knew that. So I’m again waiting for a call back after the dealer is told they don’t have the latest version.

Glad to read this post. My dealer (along with NaviSoft) told me that October was the normal release date for updates. (this was in July)

Thanks for the information! :D

Update completed yesterday and no loss of past data, no problems. Now have 2012 version. Original was April 2010.
