  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Consumer Reports GV80

CR made a video explaining their test for the GV80:

Overall a pretty positive impression where the only major complaint was the infotainment user-friendliness and gear selector.

^ And fuel economy.

Think they are a bit fussy about the gear selector (yeah, it's not the same as some other rotary ones), but they loved how it drove, how it looked and the segment busting interior.

Good discussion of the GV80, but I agree they obsessed endlessly over the gear selector, which anyone will get totally used to by the second day of vehicle ownership. They ended up giving more air time to the gear selector than to driving dynamics (which they all praised).

Am I the only one who noticed that they indicated they purchased a 3.5T Advance model yet for most of the video showed a 3.5T Prestige model? It was not til the end of the review that they actually showed an Advance model. Not that it makes any difference as far as their review was concerned, everything they said about their unit applied to both the Advance and Prestige, and only GV80 owners would probably even catch this.

I agree with those that disagreed with their comments regarding the shifter. I think the shifter is very intuitive. Go all the way to the right until it stops for drive and all the way to the left for reverse. The car can even to set up to go into park when turning off the engine. I don't have to look at the shifter. I wonder if their problem is more to do with the fact that they review so many cars and, going from one to another, would make it difficult to adjust to a particular car's feature?

As for the IU, since I can customize the order of the icons, I rarely even go past the first page, I moved all of the icons I use frequently to the first page. I do wish the controller was a little taller, an half an inch or so, to make it easier to grasp.
