Cracked Dash

Same problem. 09 Genesis, black interior, I live in Arizona. Crack now encircles the air bag which seems like a hazard to me.
I'm sure the dealership wouldn't fess up to a hazard. Guess we'll see. For such an amazing car this is crappy. Along with my clear coat that is totally eroding (and has been for years). Car looks ike a junker...

My 13 cracked about a year ago even with a sunshade at the same spot, right above the air bag on passenger side. I'm in Houston too.

I just noticed this happened to my Genesis. I live in california i also leave my car outside. I have 2 cracks looks like right where the airbag is .

2011 Sedan 3.8 and i live in Florida. The crack started over passenger airbag, now it's ALL over the entire dash. It sucks.

So my question, if the car is out of warranty what in the hell do we do??
I keep my shade on the dash EVERYDAY. It has not gotten worst. I am very nervous about the airbag now...

Just had this turn up on my silver 09 4.6 W/tech package. Spoke to dealer and a detail guy that does repairs to leather. Patching it or a cover could interfere with the air bags. It is a feature not a flaw as this is where the dash opens to let the airbag out. It is basically a matter of age and heat/sun wear on the break-away panel. I hope we never have to see them deploy first hand, then the car will really look bad.

The thing is, it is looks HIDEOUS! Yes, I am in the south (Columbia SC to be exact) where the humidity is CRAZY high and just different than anywhere I have been. I keep the dash clean/detailed. I checked ebay for a new dash cover and they run about $500+!!!! OMG...

I agree, I am outside Philadelphia and we know humidity too. Even though they are from the Hyundai gene pool, parts and labor are that of a German car.

Once a month since owning the car (2014) I use 302 UV protectant. It is not greasy or abrasive. It is the best. Leather and vinyl.

I wonder. Such products could dry out the leather. I surely don’t know, but it’s a theory.

Some products do. You have to prep before you add the cleaner like clean the surface with mild soap. Very mild or a leather cleaner. Works very well. Check out sweet project car detailing on YouTube. Watching him for years.

First off, I did try and search this topic and didn't find exactly the answers I was looking for thus why I'm posting.

I own a 09 4.6 White exterior Tan interior fully loaded with the tech package. I have owned it since new and never used armorall on the dash since I have heard/seen that over time it will/can cause it to crack. Just the other day I noticed there is a crack right above the passenger side air bag.

My question to all our members here is, has anyone else had this crack happen to their car in the same location?

My thought process here is this is a factory deigned weak spot on the dash should the airbag need to be deployed and with the heat from the Florida sun over the years it caused it to get weak and just crack right on that line.
