  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have a creak coming from the driver door panel?? It's worse when my arm is on the rest. Thanks

I do. Both driver's and passenger's side. Drives me nuts.

I have a creaks coming from the passenger side A pillar. Dealer says nothing wrong with it. I think dealer service is the weak link so far... I actually had the car turn off on my while driving on the highway but the dealer said they can't find anything wrong with it. After changing the cabin filter, I noticed the glove box didn't open slowly anymore... it would just flop down. Dealer said they all do that. I opened it back up to change the cabin filter again and noticed that there's a plunger assembly that had fallen out when they changed the filter and they didn't put back in. Now after putting it back in, the glove box door opens smoothly and slowly again. I've been to 2 different dealerships in the area and basically the service is the same. Overall, I like the car but you're paying $40k and and gettin $20k level service. I also own a couple Acura's and I will say the service experience is much better.

I had a creaking sound that I thought was from a broken armrest. The armrest was broken but the creaking noise was still there after it was replaced whenever I pressed down on the armrest. I figured out that the noise was from the back of the door panel rubbing against something behind it. I fixed the problem by placing a small piece of plastic as a shim between the door panel and the metal door frame right about where the latching mechanism is.

Hmmm... good to know. Wouldn't the dealer be reasonably expected to do that service for you? Just curious... 'cause I'm expecting it when I go in!

The creaking noise really sounded like it was coming from the armrest itself and, since it sounded like creaking leather, the dealer just told me to try a lubricant where the armrest meets the door. After that advice, when I figured out the problem by pulling the door panel away from the door frame with my fingers while pushing down on the armrest to see if it still squeaked, I didn't go back to the dealer.

Thanks people. Before I started driving my R-Spec today, I sprayed silicone between the driver panel and the door frame. Started from the top to the latch. No more creak.

Thanks for the assist

John

How did you remove the panel?

Thanks for these tips! I am going bonkers with these pesty noises!

I didn't

Sprayed silicone where the panel meets the door shell. All quiet.

Could you take a picture of where you sprayed the silicon please. I cannot for the life of me figure out where the door panel meets the door shell.

Yes, I have a rattling sound coming from the passenger side door either front or rear between the speed of 25 and 30 mph. There was no rattling sound below 25mph and above 30 mph. I took it twice to the dealer, first time they cannot duplicate the problem and the second time the service advisor said that they applied a glue on the rubber strip by the door. Still the rattling noise is there. It didn't fix whatever they did.

It could be a lot of things, but generally things rub up against other things. Leather/vinyl can make a creaking noise, plastics rubbing against eachother or against metal. You can try pushing/pulling on stuff you see what makes the noise then basically put foam or something soft in-between them to soak up vibrations or keep the rubbing quiet.

I will say that out of curiosity I tested sound levels and materials in an S class (2013 S550). It was louder than my car and pushing on anything (door trim, dash, seats) made creaks/squeaks like anything else so this stuff is pretty normal.

Here's how to remove the door panel and what it looks like if anyone's interested. For the front doors you also have a small plastic screw at the front of the door (towards the motor) which holds the top plastic piece (with the tweeter grill) attached.
