  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Curb View Mirror Tilt Troubles

Great info on the mirror tilt function. I was about ready to take my 2010 4.6 in for service when I read your posts. I had put the mirror switch in the middle (off) position. Thanks for the tip.

Hey All,

Sorry in advance for the slow update on this.

The short story: Things are mostly all good. Hyundai service repaired my vehicle.

The long story: On May 16 my SA emailed to say the mirror assembly was back from paint, and the replacement control module for said mirror was also in.

We agreed to a May 18 meeting at 8:00am, to drop off the car for service.

On May 18 I dropped off my Genesis at 8:00am. By about noon, my SA emailed me again to inform me that the new mirror assembly was installed and working correctly, and that there was a new problem. The control module was "boxed incorrectly" at the LA warehouse. As a result she would need to keep the car for 4 more days until the correct component was received.

Needless to say, I was not pleased with this news. I was out to lunch when she emailed, and I had the friend I was with drop me off at the dealership within 15 minutes of getting her update email.

My SA was out to lunch when I arrived, so I asked to speak with someone higher up the ass-ladder. My request was met, and I spent the next 10 minutes explaining my situation. I made it clear that had they only checked the control module prior to calling me in, then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I played it cool and was courteous and respectful the entire time.

The service manager promptly brought up my freshly washed car and left me with the instruction to expect a call from my SA Monday morning.

By 11:30am on Monday, May 21 I had not heard anything so I called her. She said that she had "just gotten off the phone with the tech" and that the correct part had been received. My wife was in the area, and I asked her to drop off my car off at about 2:30pm. It was finished 2 hours later.

The mirror, or rather its tilt down and memory seat function is working. For some reason however the replacement mirror has only 80% the range of motion of the drivers side.

I'm tired of dealing with this issue and as a result will let this go for now. I just wanted to get back to enjoying the finest vehicle I've ever owned.

I'm doing just that. Sweet baby Jesus is this sedan fast. I've been applying more braking and cornering and she holds herself decently for a 4000lb car. When I get to work after my 32 mile commute I don't want to get out.

I'm happy to answer questions if you guys have any.
