If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just installed my custom caliper covers on my 5.0 Ultimate today. No more ugly gray steel. The caliper covers are made by MGP and were very easy to install. It took about 30 minutes with NO drilling.

I hope you like the look!!!!

Hmmm, mixed feelings as the front calipers are already a work of art and covering them up with an aluminum plate is well, cheezy? As for the rears they need some dress up but painting both would honestly suit me better. I did have the same setup on my R Spec however I chose a gray color so the covers did not scream covers if you know what I mean.

I thought the same thing. I think of the covers as jewelry. If I get bored. I'll just as easily remove them. The covers are made of steel and the emblem is engraved. MGP makes quality covers. Nothing like those cheap "plastic" junk. Also getting it custom with the "wing emblem" gives it a more polished look.

Thanks for your input though.

More unsprung weight for the front wheels for subjective cosmetic benefit.

those are actually aluminum not steel. I had the same covers by the same manufacturer as mentioned on my RSpec. See here.http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=9382&highlight=caliper+covers

Here is what I did to my Gen2, love the look but the thread was quite controversial to say the least. Good news is over a year and a half later they still look like the day I put them on and this is in severe Canadian winter conditions. http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=14205&highlight=caliper+covers

I actuslly meant "aluminum" not steel. Thanks for the clarification. The red does give the car a little visusl pop.

not my style for sure but I applaud you trying something different!

if you like it that's all that matters!

Never have been a fan of caliper covers since they are trying to make it look like you have a BBK. Kind of reminds me of a "fooler cooler" intake that are supposed to resemble a FMIC. Will say however that the quality of these MGP covers with the Genesis logo look superior to other brands I have seen.

I think it looks good. I also have the red covers on my 2G. My car is grey and imo the red looks better on your car. When installed and tires and wheels mounted it does not look like cheap covers.

Like MidnightSun.

I had vinyl decal custom made then painted the caliper and added the decal.

i've had good results with G2 caliper paint on other vehicles. a liquid epoxy that is very durable... They carry many colors and can also match the color of the car if you wanted to.. Our are calipers Brembos?

if you have expensive wheels you should paint the calipers.. IMO...

Hyundai seems inconsistent - on the Genesis coupe Brembo's are used, but with the sedans, they find another source. On the G1 5.0, someone described the calipers as coming from a Soviet military vehicle. And those on the G2 are not exactly works of art - they are huge with some strange metal strap and bolts bracing the top. If they're going to be ugly, why not at least paint the front and rear calipers in the same color? In all fairness, they do a good job in stopping the car.

With these covers installed, did u need any wheel spacers added btwn the rim and calipers? Some install directions say to do it, some dont. I'm thinking of getting those in black and then painting over them the color I want. Just want to make sure the additional work is not needed ? Yours looks good btw..mine is a 2015 4 dr 3.8

Well, that is something, I suppose.

I don’t mind the red calipers with a black car. Nice contrast if one wishes to call attention to brake calipers ( not high on my list). Use of the 1stGen logo isn’t too egregious since it’s difficult to see.

Stanmanh: Exactly what I am looking for... color and logo! Please post your source company and your exact order ticket information. :-) I’m in Virginia, so I doubt you and will not bump into each other.

That's a work of art, our calipers are pretty ugly TBH.

I like the custom look, but I do not like caliper covers at all. Paint or go home.

But seriously, they don't look bad, just my preference.

Tony

I would put them on the rears because those are pretty bland, but I like the fronts as they are on the G80 sport. flat black to match the fronts.
