  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Occasionally I have noticed that my TFT dash display would go dim, then come back up after a few seconds, usually after changing driving modes and or auto hold settings. Today however it went dim and stayed dim for my whole drive. Again right when I changed settings.

Has this happened to anyone else yet? The infotainment screen is completely unaffected. Lowering/raising the brightness does not have any impact. I shut the car down and restarted, still dim. I came back about an hour later and everything was back to normal.

Screen gremlins, yay....

No issues here. I recommend the next time it happens to take a video of it then proceed directly to your dealer. It sounds like a short somewhere. Keep us posted.

I went ahead and took pics and a short video, I'll check with the dealer to see what they think.

Take the car and video to your dealer. You definitely have a gremlin somewhere. Does your HUD work fine? I noticed you have your headlights on. Have you tried various settings with the stalk to see if that changes the dimness of the LCD screen any? Just trying to help possible get to the root cause to aid your dealer. Try all buttons and switches (with your lamplight set to bright obviously) to see if anything triggers it to work again. Then show that to the dealer to help in tracking down the short. The more knowledge you have before going back to the dealer the better. Even if none of the switches or buttons don't trigger it to come on, you can rely that to your dealer.

^HUD has worked flawless so far. I am going to set an appt. with dealer for this, oil change, and tailight recall. Hope I can get a loaner...

^^ it went out when I selected autohold and sport mode while decelerating.

I played with the brightness, autohold, and driving modes cycling in the video with no effect. I did not cycle the car lights, i don't think. I did power down and back up with no effect. About an hour later I came back and it fired up back to normal.

Keep us posted on how you make out at the dealer. Be sure and let them know all the things you tried and when it happens. Your results at the dealers good help others here that might experience the same issues down the road.

Went in for service today and could not reproduce the problem after some troubleshooting. His opinion is that it is a bad backlight, in which case an entire new dash panel will need to be installed. Tech is going to check some HMA resources and call me on Monday.

By the way I had a silky smooth service experience at the Evansville Hyundai dealer, oil change and the TSB's/Recall work. G2 5.0 loaner and washed and vacuumed the car. Ding ding ding!

It is good to hear you had a good dealer experience. I recommend taking pictures/videos of all your seams where the dash meets the edges all around to insure when the new one is installed it is placed back correctly. I had a similar issue with a car many years ago and they never could get the dash back like when done at the factory and the rattles and creaks were almost unbearable. Two weeks later I traded that car in :D
