  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there any reason that the Hyundai Genesis does not have the DRL system on the cars coming to the states

Can't you just leave the lights on all the time? Don't the headlights turn off once you turn the car off? The effect would be the same as day time running lights.

For intentions of being seen from the front, yes. But turning on the headlights also turns on the rear lights as well which you don't want during the day. It also turns on the cabin lights.

Ditto to what TJPark01 said.

Because I tend to take two or three trips a year, sometimes with my wife and sometimes alone, I promised my wife that when I travel:

1. In sunshine on two lane roads, I would use my low beam headlights.
2. On overcast cloudy days, on two lane roads, I would use my parking/position lights.
3. On overcast cloudy days, on Interstates, I would use my parking/position lights.
4. Dawn, Dusk or at night, Headlights plus my Yellow FogLamps.
5. Rain, Headlights plus my Yellow FogLamps.
I don't use any lights in bright sunshine on Interstates.

I.E. I always try to be seen.

Same reason Canadian cars do not have tire pressure monitors. It is not law.

Speaking of Canadian cars, any Canadians out there that have working DRL's from the 2009 model year?.

That is what I do. I have done so for the 1 1/2 I have owned the vehicle. I have no problem and I like the lights on front and rear especially when overcast or rainy.
