  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

De-badged and rear Winged!!!!!

Are the emblems we purchased the same that they use on the trunk in Korea? I think the ones we or I have is actually for the bonnet because we have to cut off the posts to install. My first choice was Empire State gray but there wasn't one around with Ivory interior.... I recently saw the M Blue..... Dam that is a sharp color and wish I saw it in person before I settled for the Parisian Gray..... I'm happy though. I'm having my fogs installed next Sunday!!!

As strange as it seems (and to it really does seem very strange to me), apparently the KDM Genesis has a trunk lid with different emblem holes than the NA Genesis trunk lid. The emblem that most have bought with the pegs that need to be removed is, in fact, the OEM KDM rear trunk badge - not the front hood badge which is a larger emblem (9" tip-to-tip versus 8" tip-to-tip for rear).

Same here. I like it there... There is no wrong way when it is your car :D

I agree! It took me 3 emblems to put it just the way it I like it! My 2nd try was about where you put it, I liked it as well. Maybe it was the 2nd emblem I got, could've been bent, but the middle of the emblem was not sitting completely flush unless I put it up just a bit higher. Of course I had to look at it very closely to find that very tiny gap. Now the emblem is completely flush in all corners.

Debadged the H emblem under the hood and replaced with 5.0 emblem:

Only with 19" rims :D (and I believe the KDM Genesis tearing it up in the second picture is Parisian Gray)

But it is "different strokes for different folks" - I prefer the Empire State Gray. Especially when viewed in bright sunlight, it'a an amazing color with sparkle that the Montecito Blue doesn't have (though I like that color too)!

Parisian Gray was my 2nd choice. Nice color for sure.

Looks good. I just got my car back with the re-badge rear wing emblem and had the dealer sticker take off as well.

Mine sits flush throughout the emblem. Maybe you didn't grind the posts down enough?

Hi - just got a new Genesis lease and I want to change the rear badge, but given that it is a lease, anyone know if it'll be easy to put the original badge back on when I need to return the car?

Thanks.

Hi I have read about this and it has me curious, I just bought a 2011 (as the name suggests right lol) and I thought this was they way they are stock.

Even if it is a lease you can leave the wings. It is actually a dealer installed option. Looking closer I noticed that on the bottom center it isn't flush.... I THINK I could live with it because the only time you can see it is when the trunk is open.

Re winged my 15 right away. Easy and cheap improvement to appearance

I actually like it where it is... It is centered on the flat part of the lip. I don't like it higher touching where the top curve of the lip starts.

I agree....It looks great! Lower makes it look more balanced and pronounced.

I wouldn't worry about it... I was at the dealer the other day and all but one of their entire stock of Genesis now have the wings instead of the H.... I'm also on a lease and am getting debadged and winged on Monday!

I am getting de-badged and winged on Monday... in addition to removing the flying H I was going to have them remove the Genesis name, but leave the 5.0... but looking at some of the pics here I'm thinking maybe the 5.0 should go too... is that the general consensus... lose everything but the wings?

Yes.

No

What is the best source for the rear wings? Is it inevitable that it will be made of plastic?

Got mine at dealer parts dept. $35. Install was no charge during film and tint application.

I was thinking the same thing - all that work to debadge and yet a busy license plate frame advertising the dealer remains....

The fist things I did was to remove a little dealer name badge that the dealer put on (hate when they do that without asking if it's OK), swap out the rear H for the wings (i kept all the other badging as I prefer that to the unbadged look) and ditched the dealer frame. However, I swapped it for a really thin chrome frame versus no frame - looks better than no frame, imho (used the same thin frame upfront - got them at Autozone).

I agree; they don't walk around with t-shirts with my name or my company's name on them, so I make them take their emblems off the car before I sign any paperwork. I also replace the license plate frame with just the "Genesis" one that I got on eBay.

Back to the thread topic, it really looks good de-badged in that color.
