  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dead pedal?

Well, we have done several long trips in our Genesis but I have never noticed this. But yesterday I paid attention. There is a dead pedal in our car. I don't find it too far to the left or right. But there is no doubt that it is angled wrong for me. My heel falls an inch short of the pedal. So what I have been doing, quite unconsciously, is point my left foot a little forward so my toes touch. I don't find this onerous. As I said, I never noticed this before. But it would be more comfortable if the dead pedal were more upright and an inch further forward so my whole foot could touch.

At least the pedal as a whole is not too far forward. I noticed this once in a Toyota Tercel that we owned and it meant my leg could never extend fully. I like to be able to straighten my leg occasionally on a long drive.

I think it may be a bit too far away when cruising, but I don't like to be that close to the pedals. If I was driving with performance in mind, I'd move the seat closer so my feet are closer to the pedals - not sure how that would effect how I reach the dead pedal.

Has anyone looked under the carpet to see what the pedal is made from? Is it part of the unibody or is it a bolt on part?
