  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dealer charging $3.2k for fuel injector replacement

If you have AAA, they have a 200 tow radius? I'd get my car home and back to your dealer. Then, I'd give Hyundai/Genesis customer service a call and open a case. Ask for assistance. If they won't cover the repairs, at least you can ask for partial help (GOODWILL request)

They just said all 6 were so clogged, cleaning won't do anything. But I get the feeling they didn't even look or there's a bigger issue they're trying to hide behind non-warranty. Also the intake manifold gaskets they quoted should be covered under CPO powertrain warranty.

I have a tow scheduled to bring it to an independent shop that does full injection work tomorrow, if that's even the issue.
Clogged from what? I assume that you only used 87(or higher) octane fuel in the engine, so what can clog fuel injectors on a 5 year old car to the point that cleaning them is impossible?

There seem to be more to this story.

I am suspect of the dealer where the car is at. Hence, I still would contact Hyundai. They can get the story and get this car somewhere there is a competent mechanic.
Fuel system failure? Sounds like horse sh.. to me.

Where in the country is all this happening???

First off, earlier you said no codes. If the check engine light was on... it generated a fault code.

I would call every shop and Hyundai dealer (not the one you've been dealing with) in your area and ask if they can't fix a problem like this, who would they recommend?

First thing I would do is rule out the battery. How old is it? (my three year old original OEM battery died after sitting three weeks without running. It ruined the battery.) Have you loosened, wiggled and then tightened all battery clamps and wire attachment points? Weak batt or loose/corroded connections can cause all kinds of problems.

(the power steering is electronic and pulls a lot of current from the batt. It won't work unless the motor is running, the reason it was tough to steer when you were on the side of the road)

If you're sure it's not the battery, get it scanned with a proper diagnostic tool, one that can see what's happening in real time. I'd also get a scope on the CAN bus.

Just to update everyone, the tow truck called me saying the dealership can't find the key so he has to go on another call. I wish I was making this up.

At this point I don't think I'd trust that dealer with changing out the windshield wipers.

o man what's the name of this dealer? You have to put them on blast!
Fuel pump control module failure--> does this sound like its happening to your car?

I want to know too... I'll add it to my list of Places To Avoid..

It's a Las Vegas Hyundai dealership. Car broke down on the I-15 N just passed Baker. Not sure if I should air out the specifics or if it's against the rules or whatever, as there's several in the city.

The tow truck was able to tow because the car was left unlocked and on Neutral. It's on the way to the other shop now, but they added an extra 50 bucks to the tow because there was no key and I wasn't unable to go there at the time. I do have the spare, which I'll drop off to the other shop later.

You'd best get that key from them ASAP. Those smart keys are very expensive.

The tow truck driver, bless his soul for also putting up with this, got them to write a handwritten note saying they could not find the key, but I also had the tow company put it on the receipt as evidence since they charged the extra for it.

Such a s*** show.

I sure hope that dealer is going to cover the $50

Not all the time. I paid $50 for a brand new one (OEM) a few years back off of Ebay. Programmed it with my knock-off GDS tool.

I'm at the shop the car got towed to. Car is missing a lot of things. All the covers, screws gone. Battery wasn't connected and key wasn't working.

Entire cowling with the windshield wipers is missing.

I imagine they took things apart planning to work on it. Take photos of everything so you have evidence in Small Claims court.

Normally, I'd try to find the humor in this. But I can't.... Definitely call Hyundai / Genesis Corporate and open a case. If a large dealer in a MAJOR city can't find the problem, then who the he!! can? Totally disgusting. And, they've added icing on the cake with the key. Do you know how much it costs to replace and program one?? Even worse, you don't have access to the second key to program the first.
While on the phone with Hyundai, ask them to recommend a shop. And, I'd be asking for help in repairing this car.

Yeah it's this.

I went to the shop to grab all the parts. Looks like there was a miscommunication between me paying for the spark plugs first thing in the morning and the tow truck coming in a few hours later. They could've at least told me the car wasn't ready or call me to let me know the car wasn't ready to be towed.

The other shop will probably itemize everything wrong and I'll try to get it covered by this shop. I'm really at a loss and feel like this whole thing is going to cost more than the initial $3k estimate at this point.
