  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I almost fell out of my chair when I asked how much after the initial oil change and they said $93 for dino oil which means non synthetic. I guess this is the last time they see me unless it is for a recall. Only work which was done was an oil change. It's not so much the price which is crazy stupid for a simple oil change, it's the appointment which takes a week to get, then you need to wait in line with a bunch of other people waiting for work to be done. Jiffy lube is so quick and convenient no wonder they thrive. FYI my previous Gen 1 never saw the dealer either because of the similar issues however after the purchase of the 2015 I figured I would try them again, they failed miserably.

I've been thinking about this also since I take my cars to quick lube places. The problem is the car has panels on the bottom that have to be taken off. I don't know if I want them taking those off and putting them back on. Next thing you know one of those panels will come off on the highway.

I'm probably going to buy a fluid vac and do it myself.

Probably going to do them myself also. Now if anyone knows of a place online where I can purchase a few 5.0 filters for the Gen 2 it would be much appreciated.;)

Please don't do the fluid vac. It really is a poor way to change fluids as it leaves the nastiest stuff in the bottom of the pan.

Old-wives tale and absolutely wrong. A fluid vac that is powered by an air compressor will remove more oil than a drain plug on most engines, and will also suck out any debris at the bottom of the oil pan. The nasty stuff will also be captured by a oil filter (that is what it is for).

BMW and MB cars are designed to have oil changes done by fluid-vac and that is how most of their dealers do it.

Here's where I ordered mine for my 3.8 AWD. Believe this is the part number for the 5.0.

Couldn't find a decent shipping rate at any online place, but if you order 4 or more, it's not so bad.

Good luck!

So as a mechanic and someone that has worked on many a BMW I will have to disagree with your philosophy.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Don't forget to stock up on air filters and cabin filters at same time to cut down on shipping costs per item.

I respect your opinion, but I have not had any problems doing that for the last 12 years. My comments are based on personal experience with a fluid vac that is attached to an air compressor. The hand pump vacs are worthless at getting the stuff out of the bottom of the oil pan. I have also seen videos that show cut-away views of an oil pan, and where the drain plug is, which shows using the drain plug will not remove all the oil or other stuff at the bottom of drain pan.

My first dealer oil change on the 2015 5.0 was free and on my previous Genny they have only charged me $28 with a $7 rebate which brings it to $21. Plus they wash it.

My dealer give their Genesis owners free oil changes, includes a loaner, and washes and vacuums car whenever it is serviced.

Thanks for all the comments and advice however. I am still trying to figure out which filter is the correct one for 2015 V8. It seems every site I go to has no info if you try to select model year 2015. Does anyone have a link to the part number where it is written for 2015 V8? Or if others have purchased prior and have the exact part number that would be great.

I kind of doubt that Jim Ellis Hyundai will ship to Canada. But if you can find a dealer who will ship to you, just call them on the phone to place the order. But a US dealer may not recognize your Canadian VIN, even if they will ship to Canada.

What's wrong with your local dealer parts department? The 2014 oil filters (look very similar to the 2015 to me) costs about $11 at most US dealer parts departments.

Be careful of quick lube places. In Atlanta it was found that those type of businesses where not using the oil they advertised and or charged for and also in some cases did not change the filter or all the oil. This was found by a local tv news team with hidden cameras on the car. Many places were dishonest and caused some engines to fail.

Since the engine is essentially the same (aside mostly from torque remapping), wouldn't the oil filter part number be the same as the G1 Tau V8?

There is widespread fraud among quick lube places all over the US. Every place I have ever lived, the local TV stations run undercover sting operations with hidden cameras to catch them.

Before I started doing my own oil changes, I did find a small locally owned quick lube place with a couple of locations that was honest. But avoid the large chains. Even when they are honest, many of them have completely incompetent employees.

on my invoice from my oil change it is written 26320-3F500 which is obviously the correct part number for anyone interested. My dealer sells this for $16.34 CDN plus tax. I will purchase maybe 4 of them along with air filters in the US and deliver them to my US address.

Yes, but a lot of online parts dealers (who are actually regular Hyundai dealers) will not take an order without a VIN, because they don't want to be responsible for shipping an incorrect part number and then customer trying to return it. I have "borrowed" a VIN number before when I upgraded my 2009 suspension to 2011 specs and ordered the parts online (had them installed by a independent suspension shop).
