Good luck with the Jeep. I just don't trust Chrysler and it's family of cars due to low reliability ratings, especially ongoing transmission issues that plague them.
Make sure you confirm your recall issue has been resolved on the 2019:
May 25 2018
Cylinder damage or camshaft failure can cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Summary:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines. The engines in these vehicles may be missing valve stem keepers, which can allow the valve to drop into the engine cylinder causing engine damage. These engines may also have a reversed camshaft cap that can damage the camshaft bearing causing camshaft failure.
Hopefully you have better luck with MaxCare than these folks:

That recall only affected 14 units. Mine was built on 8/9, well after that.
We've had 5 FCA vehicles in the my immediate family since 2010. All have been pretty trouble free. If I add my son to the mix, make that 9 in total. The 9 speed trans had a rocky start in 2014 and early 2015. It's been pretty solid since then.
Take a look at
Jeep Cherokee Problems on car complains site:
There is a graph.. Pretty low complaints except for 2014 and 2015. The vast majority of those were from the 9 speed trans. Known issue; the trans has had both parts and software changes. Keep in mind that FCA has been selling over 20K units of the Cherokee per month.
Some of the auto mags still diss the trans, but it's pretty much the same unit that is in my wife's Pacifica, and it's fine in that vehicle. I've only had the Jeep for 5 days, but I have no problem with the way the trans behaves.
I did several test drives prior to purchasing, and my take is this: The Cherokee with the 2.4 Tiger Shark engine is not a great match to the 9 speed. The 3.2L V6 is pretty good, but IMHO the 2.0 4 Cyl. Turbo is the best match.
I have several co-workers that have KL series Cherokees, and all have been happy. That said, all makes have some issues as evidenced by threads in every maker's forums including this one.
I'm not worried about the Maxcare warranty. Mopar sells tons of these, and judging by the comments in the various Jeep/Mopar forums, most are happy, and there are many repeat customers. A quick read of the Hyundai Forum will also show many posters who complain about Hyundai not honoring their warranty.
I take most of that with a grain of salt.
Bottom line, I agree that Hyundai is generally world class in build quality, and somewhat better than FCA.
We will see how the Cherokee pans out. Most of my experience with Hyundai products was very good. The '13 Azera was the best car I have ever owned. The only mechanical issue was a rattle in the sun roof, which was fixed with a bit of felt tape. The Genesis was good, but I had a hand full of minor issues right off the bat.
So far so good for the Jeep.
