Dealership crashed another car into my car

I also heard my rates would increase even if I'm not the one who caused the accident. Hopefully, the only damages were cosmetic.

Maybe I should ask the dealership for CCTV footage of the collision to judge how strong the impact force was? Or maybe I should just cool down and trust the dealership to handle everything in a professional manner? Ahhhh I don't know. I found out which body shop my dealership will bring my car to, so I'll drop by there tomorrow and ask them for their estimate on the repairs. Should I push for an entire bumper + fender replacement, or just let them bend everything back into shape?

What a way to start the new year, lol

By the way, was it the LH front or RH front?? If the RH front, it could have messed up the alignment of the sensor for your adapted CC.

Not according to my insurance agent or the body shop that repaired my car.

I would, at a minimum, tell the dealer that I am considering having my insurance company fix the car and then letting them deal with the dealer's insurance company. The dealer might start acting better.

And I would prefer a hit on Carfax to a half-assed repair job----------especially if you are planning on driving it a long time.

okay I will mention that to the dealership.

You heard???? Mine doesn't.

Talk to your agent-------you can do that without filing a claim and see what he says.

I'm using the same insurance company as my parents, and they told me even if I inquire, they'll question me and place me as a "high-risk" driver because I might be driving in dangerous areas. I can't confirm, though.

It was the front, right hand side :( I thought the adaptive cruise control was controlled using the device in the middle top of the windshield?

If I, for example, feel that they did a bad job on the repair and there was sufficient proof (i.e. the panels pop back out while driving), can I go to my insurance company and file a claim after?

if the repair is a bad job tell the dealer to do it over. It is very important to get the incident report in writing from the dealership before you have your car repaired.

Thank you, Home of Stone. I will speak to the service manager and get an incident report. They are all very nice to me and I think it was an honest mistake.

Edit: The service manager and general manager called me to apologize for the damage, and that they will pay to repair everything to normal. Should I still ask for an incident report? They said they will bend the front fender back into place and adjust the headlight unit (they said it was pushed back into the car, I never saw it but I have an untrained eye), and re-adjust the front bumper.

Yes you should absolutely get a written report. The dealership should also have done one for the service department's file and one to go into the employee's personnel file. Professionals handle things in writing for future reference if problems turn up later and to document cost and personnel's performance. Many years ago I was a service manager and this is how we handled an incident involving a customer's car.

I believe that your dealer just asked you to bend over, and you missed it.
Let your dealer know that after the repair, you will take it to another repair shop to get a second opinion. You also might contact Hyundai USA, or call the Genesis/Equus hot line.

Do not sign a release before you get the second opinion that will check for hidden damage.

Okay. I will speak to the service manager and general manager and ask for a written report. In case they deny my future warranty service due to this collision then at least I can have something to refer back on.

They never told me that I have to sign a release form. Is it normal protocol to have one signed? I'll ask the dealership on Monday.

I question what you've been told about what the insurance company will do if you just talk to your agent. He is supposed to be working for you. No claim, no reason for anything to go into your dad's file. And the fact that the dealer did it should not impact your insurance anyway.

Who is the insurance with??

Have you taken a lot of pictures?? I question being able to just bend the fender back into shape.

I actually just asked my dad since he has dealt with them before. My dad could be exaggerating things.

When the service manager called me, he said the damage was actually worse but they popped the panels and bumpers back in to make it presentable to me. Lol.

I must laugh to keep my sanity.

Edit: I think the insurance company is called Dominion. Will have to double check tomorrow.

How can I inspect for subframe alignments? Does that require the body panels to be removed to see if the metal structure under it has been bent?

That would be something the body shop would have to do. Which is why I emphasized stopping by the body shop in person and making it clear to them what you expect them to do, and not just a quicky for the dealership.

By the way, tell the dealer you want a free loaner car while your car is being fixed.

Hi amartz,

I think I'll take a half day holiday on Monday and go to the body shop before the dealership gives it to them. Are the body shops able to match the factory paint color 100%?

By the way, tell the dealer you want a free loaner car while your car is being fixed.

I was provided with a Sonata as a courtesy car :)

Normally I don't yell :D but ....PICTURES!!!! ...........TAKE PICTURES BEFORE THEY EVEN TOUCH YOUR CAR!!!

If it were me, I think I'd wait until the car was actually at the body shop, and they've had a chance to inspect it, then you can talk about what needs fixed. But I'd get there before they start working on it, or at least before they are done working on it.

And make sure you specify a full size or luxury loaner, not a compact. If they say they don't have one, just tell them that you will have to report it to the insurance company so you can get a luxury rental to replace your luxury car being repaired.

Okay. The service manager told me something the service advisers didn't tell me and that is my vehicle's panels and bumpers were popped back into place before I came to see it for the first time after the collision. It was worse than what I saw. I'm definitely going to tell the body shop to take it apart and inspect it thoroughly :( :(

They gave me a Sonata. They said if I have an Equus, they must give me either another Equus or Genesis. Any model under the Equus and they can give me any loaner they want lol...I didn't really argue it...the Sonata is pretty big, though.

Of course they are "able"......The question is "will they". They are doing this job for cash, from the dealer. You will never know what they whispered to the body shop.
Have you ever done any business with this auto body shop before?
Do they have a sign out front that says " We can paint your car any color for $29.95"

If it was mine, I would have insisted on a repair at a place of my choosing. (A quality shop)

Yep....find best reputable body shop in town, that specialize in fixing high-end cars and let them do the work.

The shop they chose seems pretty legit. It's called Assured Auto and they warranty all their work. I guess if it's not done right, I can always go back to the dealer and inquire?:(

UPDATE: So I was told by the service manager and the service advisers that my car was going to Assured Auto. The service advisers told me to go to the body shop when my car is there so I can see the extent of the damage done to my car. The service manager told me the car would be picked up at 10am. I went to the body shop and waited for the car to come in. I waited till 11:30 am. I called the dealership and they said the car was brought to another store that was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy up north from where the dealership was. Why would they bring it to another body repair shop if they told me they will bring my car to Assured Auto in the first place? Assured Auto is literally around the corner from the dealership. Why would they inconvenience themselves to have someone go up north and not literally around the corner? I guess as long as they do a good job, I'll be okay.

The other body shop probably told the dealer that they could "kinda" fix it for a lot less money.
Ask your dealer why this happened. Also let them know that you will have the car totally inspected by another body shop after you receive the car.
Take a drive to the other body shop and ask them what they plan to do to fix the car.
