  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dealership crashed another car into my car

When the salesman said sorry only one key, you should have said "sorry no deal then". Why wait two weeks to see the General manager. Just go in the Gen. manager's office and sit down. Sometimes you have to be assertive.

Yes I think I was too nice to them/I'm stupid. Sigh. I'll keep you guys updated on the outcome.

Seriously, I'd start asking recommendations for a lawyer. Sounds like they sold you a damaged/repaired car, and that little crash let the cat out of the bag. Maybe you go to court, maybe not. Sometimes, letting the lawyer do the talking is enough. Especially if you combine that with local consumer news coverage about "did you know this dealer fixes damaged cars cheap, and sells them to unsuspecting victims? Story at 11!" I wouldn't wait on anything from the dealer anymore!

Sigh. What a year. I will probably start asking lawyers soon. I contacted the dealership about the poor repaint yesterday, and still no word from them.

If I were you, I'd stop talking to the dealer directly. They already fu**ed you over on many occasions... Just do what amartz suggested.

OhSeoBang,

You need to be more active with the dealership.

As I mentioned previously, why don't you tell the dealership you appreciate what they have done and it just is not good enough.

Then tell the dealership you want to speak to the person whom crashed your car to get information from that person and file a claim with their insurance company.

Then proceed as I suggested previously.

I think this horse died about two pages earlier.

Hi everybody,

I spoke to the service advisers, and they said "bring you car in and if we think the paint is not right, we'll take it from there". Well obviously they're gonna say the paint is fine.

I'm going to go to a Hyundai body repair shop (located at another hyundai dealership) tomorrow and get a written report that the paint does not match. I don't think they can refuse to fix it then. If that still doesn't work then i'll just file an insurance claim against the dealership.

I asked the service adviser who crashed into my car, and he said he doesn't know. Like really? ........................

Any update?

I went to a Hyundai collision repair center (it is located at another hyundai dealership). I asked the technician if I can have his opinion on my car's paint. He said sure and asked me to pull into the service bay. The moment I pulled in, he was like "okay. I already know what's been repainted".

He said the two left doors have been repainted more than once (he showed me sanding lines under the paint and the fact that the color doesn't match) and the reason I couldn't see it earlier is because the sunlight drowns out the mismatched color. He also pointed out the dust under my hood's paint. He also said the damaged fender doesn't match in color. He said whoever performed this repaint did a very sloppy job.

I told him my dealership repainted and repaired my vehicle's front right fender, front bumper, and driver's door for $1000. He said "what?...just to repaint the driver's door is $1500..."

I am a bit confused. Did you pay the dealership $1,000.00 to paint your door?

The dealership paid someone $1000 to repair and repaint my bumper, repair and repaint my front right fender, and repaint my driver's door.

OK. Now it sounds like the dealership you use does not have a body shop.
The dealership uses a local body shop when needed and must steer their customers to that body shop.
If that is the case, then the dealership will want to spend as little as possible to repair and paint your car.

It will be interesting to see if it makes it into the Carfax report. It's a two edged sword as to whether you want it in or not. If you are buying, you hope all data on accident repair is in the Carfax report. If you are selling, well that's another matter.

If it is a fender bender, it is extremely unlikely that it will affect the car in any way, assuming they did a good job of fixing it so that the fix is not visible. I personally don't care if minor damage is included in a CarFax.

The thing that a buyer needs to worry about is a car that has major damage that is not in a CarFax. Such major damage can cause problems such as bent frame, drivetrain problems, or suspension problems that are unseen to the naked eye.

It's time to quit talking to the steelership and go talk to your insurance company. They have lawyers that will take care of it. Also talk with Hyundai Canada and tell them of the unfair practices that the dealership is doing. Like trying to convince you NOT to talk to your insurance company, which should have been the first thing you did. Also let them know that you want a replacement car as you have been deceived from the start about the car.

And if they "pushed" the dents out of your fender, they WILL return. been there done that.
