  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dec 2022 GV80 Software Update šŸ‘

attempting to update while the vehicle is off and I'm doing errands - we'll see :)

EDIT - in spite of a flag stating that the software update would continue in the background while the vehicle was turned off, this didn't happen. I had to babysit the update for nearly an hour while the car was running. Also, once the vehicle was completely updated, there was still an option to update via OTA - not sure if this is redundant or there is additional software that wasn't included on the USB stick download. Thoughts?

Just finished updating, took 58 minutes. 1st tried updating with car engine off, in ACC mode, failed after few minutes because power automatidally turned off. 2nd time was successful with car engine running.
I am attempting the update sometime today and will report back later. Here is part of the web based app My Genesis with some "how to" information in the Map Update section that confirms your experience.

Couple of more updates on the software update.

1. I can verify that the on-board NAV directions show on the HUD as they should.
2. Phone calls also show on the HUD like they should.

I think all is good from what I can see. Happy driving.

One more thing. I trided voice command for navigation and it also worked just fine. I started and then canceled the navigation.

Happy to report a successful USB update to latest version ......1125. Took a pleasure drive while it did its thing which took an hour as reported. Haven't tested everything but not expecting any problems after Dale's good report. After getting back I checked My Genesis web app and battery only at 63%. Tender is supposed to arrive today and will see how it does over the weekend once I get it setup.

I finally got around to installing it today. I let the car run in the driveway and it took about an hour. There were actually two parts, the first was the map and the second was some audio stuff. I had downloaded the update when it first came out and then downloaded it again a few days ago. I could not find any changes in any of the folders. I have the 2021 so there was never an issue with that version.
After the maps updated, it then instructed me to update the sound stuff. it was about 45 min for the maps and 15 min for the sound.

I was not given the option for update while the car was off. The option was there, but it would not let me chose it, but my battery was at about 55% so that might be why.

Jango, My voice commands were not affected with the update.

Thanks for update. I didn't see a sound update install but may have missed it.

Guys, if you already did the October 2022 update to your 2021 GV80, then you are already updated. The new update is only for the 2022 and 2023 GV80. The October 2022 update had messed up a bunch of functions on the 2022 and 2023 GV80. This update fixed all of that.

Have you checked the website lately? I noticed it when I downloaded the update for the 2nd time. It listed two updates. And you would have noticed it because you had to click on OK or something to continue with the upgrade.

This will include the update for Android Auto. It is still not full screen. Only 2/3 of the screen, but better than the 1/3 we had.

Most definitely, I'll take the 2/3 of the screen with pleasure. Thanks for the confirmation! Will be playing my switch / steam deck while it updates for the hour. :ROFLMAO:

Missed that. Thx!

This is what I had when downloading. Also, since I was driving the car while I kept the update screen up on the display I watched the progress. It does the map/nav one first which takes about 75-80% of the total update time then it actually prompted me to continue with the audio update which finished in about 15min. It may have finished without any prompt response by me but I didn't chance it.

I’m not sure this audio update pertains to our cars. It says it’s for Gen 1 systems. If you look at the details, it’s clearly for an audio system on older cars.

The manner in which Genesis handles these updates is abysmal. Many of us had open cases with Genesis and Mapnsoft for the issues caused by the Oct. 25 update. No word from them on this latest update, no follow up on our open cases, nothing. The update website still lists the Oct. 25 update as the latest. Itā€˜s as if they didn’t want to admit they screwed up that update and later fixed the bugs.

I believe it is still listed as an October update because this is what the October update was supposed to be. Not the one they released that was broken. Also, they do 2 updates a year, so they are probably keeping the updates in line. We should get another update in May and then again on October.

It would have been nice to had received notice of this new update or even have it posted as a new update on the MapSoft notifications.

Well whatever generation it was, it updated on my 21. It did the maps first and then the sound system.

Yes, the picture referenced the Gen 1 audio update, but the current update for the GV80 does in fact update the audio system too.

The QR code at the end spells out all the changes. For audio I know it added some of the Sounds of Nature mood things.
