  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dec 2022 GV80 Software Update 👍

Interesting, did not know there was 2 updates, it never asked me to do audio or map update. It just said 25 minutes (which in reality was about an hour) and then the screen went blank and restarted to show the new software version. I thought that was it. Guess I have to double check if it did the map updates.

I have the 2021. The software for the 2021 is different than the 22 and 23. That could be why.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the difference might be from the '21 to the '22 & '23? Can't just be the HDA2 fiasco!

So is there anyone else with a 2021 whose voice recognition is not working?

Any chance the volume for the voice command is turned down?
Can you see your command displayed on the screen but you just don't get a response?

Probably not your issue, but worth mentioning to you.

Can anyone confirm that the newest update fixed the issue that was broken by the Oct 2022 update, as described below? In the manual (attached) it is referred to as "changing set speed".

Prior to Oct update, when using smart cruise control, anytime the speed limit changed, you would get blinking white up/down arrows in the cluster (where the cruise control info is located), which would be a notification that the cruise control was set to a speed that no longer matched the posted speed limit. You could then press the speed adjust switch on the steering wheel in the direction the arrows were pointing, and the cruise control would automatically be reset to posted speed limit. This feature quit working with the Oct update. I have attached a page from the manual that describes this feature. In the attachment, it is the part called "Changing set speed", not the "warning overspeed" which has already been reported as fixed.

Volume is up. Reinstallled update. No change.

Sorry, this is the one thing I have not been able to verify. I have never used this option and think I have it turned off. Everything else I have checked has worked just fine so I would think this option is also OK.

On the 2923 it is working just fine.

Sorry, I fat fingered the message and did not look at it. That was supposed to be 2023. Year model of my GV80.

Our vehicle does have OTA capability, but Genesis has not pushed any updates OTA so far. You are correct in that your current software is 13 August 2021, so you are well behind. Just get the updater and download the update to a USB thumb drive. Then manually update your software.
Thank you for your help. As I mentioned I am tech challenged. I have tried to download the software update to a thumb drive. I get this picture below. Is if telling me that I can now put the thumb drive into my GV80?

You now plug the usb drive into the usb data port in the compartment where your phone charger is in the car. Make sure you get the proper usb port as one if just for charging. The data one will charge and link with your car. It is marked.

With the car running, the update menu might pop up on its own, but if not, you need to get into the settings menu on the car and go to the update section and start it.

Looks like you already have it downloaded to you USB thumb drive. You need to now take it to your vehicle and insert it into the data port. Not the charge port. Start your vehicle and go to SETTINGS -> GENERAL and select the SOFTWARE INFORMATION. UPDATE should be enabled. Select ENABLE and follow the prompts. It will take about an hour to update. I did mine with the vehicle running. Once it is done it will reboot and you should be good to go.

My 2021 G80 has a software update today and when it finished, I lost the ability to tune SXM channels on my Tune Button. The tune button now zooms in and out on the Map. I can't find a way around it. Anyone else had this problem?

Not on the GV80. you might get a better answer if you post this to the G80 sub.

I just bought my 2021 GV80 and not sure what version i'm on. Is it worth checking and updating? What's new?

Yes, it is worth if if you have the old maps. But you need to set up your "my Genesis" account first. Then it will tell you what is available. You should get the remaining time of the three year free upgrades left on the car when it was new.

Anyone notice that the map auto-scale option is missing in the Nav map settings?

Anyone notice that the map auto-scale option is missing in the Nav map settings?
I have a 2020 GV80 Prestige here in Canada. Yes with the latest update my auto-scale is missing. It was a great feature. But on the plus side, "Maps" now is full screen when you set it to 3D. Originally when in this setting the top 30% of the map screen was just "sky" no map.
New replacement for "auto-scale" is a 3 settings, I forget the wording, but there is "standard" to set the map at 100-200-400 feet.
Then there is a setting for some word like "detail" and sets the map at 50-100-200 feet. There is a 3rd setting for "distant" or some wording, starts at 200-400-800 ft.. I am not sure this is the exact distances but you get the picture.
When I set it at the "standard", 100-200-400ft. the 400 is virtually useless, it shows virtually zero street names.
At roughly 60-65KM (roughly 40MPH), it jumps to the highest scale or 400 ft display, and very few street names etc.
Maybe someone else can comment on this new feature.
