Yeah I saw they transferred it to MD.
So this as back in mid-July. I went to Woodbridge to go look at this 2016 3.8 RWD Ivory interior Genesis. After a test drive I wanted to take it home for the evening and think it over. They would not let me, company policy. I called Chantilly Hyundai to ask if they would let me take one home for the night. I was told no. CarMax told me I had 7 days to return the car no questions asked. I was skeptical of this but said ok after they told me they don’t even process paperwork for 14 days. I took the car home. I was pleased! Drove good! Quiet nice interior, (minus the back seat rip) I was sold! Took it home parked in the garage and played with buttons! Found the trunk button. When the trunk closed it made some sort of rubbing noise. I figured it was because of the “rear bumper applique” being a little close to the trunk lid in the closed position. At the time my feelings were “ooOOoo nice” someone cared about this car since they put the pain protection film on the trunk, doors and door handles. I went to a buddy’s house the next day to see what he thought of it (he’s an insurance adjuster) and on the way there I get a “Check BSD System” and the blind spot system would no longer function. Kind of bummed. I drove the rest of the way to MD. Buddy looked at it and was like yeah nice car! wtf it up with the check bsd???
We started looking and he found the rear of the car was repainted. They clear coated over the protective film. He found that odd but said eh maybe it just needed to be calibrated due to the extra thickness of the paint / clear coat. I called Hyundai in Chantilly and scheduled them to do a used car inspection and to run the code on the BSD system. I take it in. They bring me back while its up on a lift. They point out that the rear bumper has been off and they can see damage to the blind spot monitor sensor bracket it’s been tweaked. They told me they believed the car might have been hit and the warranty does not cover parts damaged in an accident. Funny, Carfax showed no such issues. I paid the diagnostic fee and took the paperwork for repair back to CarMax. $1800 repair estimate…
Another thing to note the “new” tires they put on it are CHEAP bottom barrel tires. I was kind of peeved they would cheap out on something as essential as tires. Go look up Ironman…. yikes
I WAS HOT!
So I go back to CarMax and talk to the service folks they said don’t worry its covered under a 30 days warranty through CarMax. Great, but now I want a 75k warranty on top of whatever BS CarMax crap is included. They said ok its $$$$ and we will refund your diagnostic fee. I gave them the benefit of the doubt said, eh shit happens it’s a nice car. I agreed to finalize everything. They hand me my warranty stuff and told me “ok you have 35k miles left on your warranty.” ….UHHHH… No no. I want 75k on top of the mileage on the car! They told me it was going to cost $$$$ more. NOOOOOOOPE you told me one thing and now you are telling me something else WTF after all the other BS, I’m done. So I get up and hand them the key. The regional manager happens to walk in and get all buddy buddy with the employees. He sees me standing visually pissed and asks how I’m doing. He said sorry to hear about everything and he’s sorry but there was nothing they could do about the warranty cost, it is what is. Whatever dude, take your broken POS and shove it!
Needless to say I had a quiet carless ride home.
BUT 2 weeks later my buddy found me a 2015 5.0 Ultimate (car in signature) for the same price with less miles then the CarMax one. I jumped on it. Haven’t looked back. Get the V8!!!! More importantly get what you want to get, colors, features, etc. I found mine eventually.
Things I discovered after it was way too late:
2015-2016 Ultimate DIS not compatible with
android auto and apple via update. BOOOO!
2015 DRLs are amber NOT LED, Not really a big deal but it was something I kind of wanted
V8 wheels are staggered and directional (so much for easy tire rotations)
HUD does not display music song titles only station names or channel names
Light leather, while it looks amazing… is a BITCCCCCCHHHHHH to keep clean
