I noticed a degrading of the leather on my '12 RSpec's steering wheel. It was more or less hidden from view, being on the backside roughly at seven 0'clock.
It appeared as though the leather in this section had been stretched too tight as there were cross-ribbing marks. It was not caused by my body as I do not rub this section of the steering wheel while entering/exiting the car or while driving. The car has never been exposed to high heat. Over time the condition seemed to worsen.
Took it to my friendly dealer, who acknowledged the defect, and the wheel was replaced under warranty. Talked to a salesman at the dealership, who said that the Genesis coupe also uses a similar steering wheel, and they have seen similar problems on the coupe, but this was the first time he had heard of a problem with a sedan steering wheel.
