  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had a busy weekend with the car. First with a interior/exterior detail (its whistle clean inside) on Saturday and then a brake upgrade on Sunday. The upgrades are Power Sport slotted rotors, Hawk HPS pads, Goodridge stainless braided brake lines and Motul RBF 600 fluid. Ran out of time for the automatic transmission fluid flush but will try to get to it next week.

I haven't had a chance to really put them to the test yet. Just did the bed in procedure and which went well. The biggest benefit will be lower brake fluid temps thanks to the fluid and brake lines along with lower pad temps with slotted rotors as I'll be on the brakes for shorter periods of time. Hopefully this will be enough to mitigate brake fade during track duty.

Oh, you actually track her? Kudos to you for going with slotted over drilled rotors lol.

Glad you also bought a quality pad and rotor combo. It's hard not to eye roll when people throw on a cheap set from Ebay. Can you post a link to what you installed? I'd like to know if the Hawk pads are noisy and how much brake dust they produce. I'm still running stock pads with my R1 Concept rotors and I'm happy with performance, especially high speed straights and hard on the brakes for the turns. Plus the factory pads really don't produce any brake dust at all. The high performance version of Hawk pads can be noisy at low speed, but sure perform when needed.

While I agree that eBay has a ton of garbage listed there is also a wealth of quality goods listed as long as you do you research and understand what you're buying.

As for the brake parts:

The Power Sport rotors are manufactured by Brake Lab in California:

The Hawk HPS pads are considered an aggressive street pad and are known for their quiet operation and minimal dusting. I've run these on other cars before and they are great performers on the street, we'll see how they stand up to track use (the Hawk HP+ is a more track focused pad):

The Goodridge G-Stop Brake Lines, not much to be said other than they looked well built:

Motul RBF 600 is a very well known and trusted brake fluid that exceeds dot 4 specs and has a much higher boiling point than oem fluid:

I also bought a new transmission oil pan (filter is built in so if you want to change the filter/fluid you'll be replacing the pan) and Pentosin ATF fluid.

It looks like they only have discs for the front although I believe they're an outfit that can pretty much do anything for you.

Likewise, this company does awesome work with brake pads and I've heard nothing but rave reviews about them: http://www.ctbrakes.com/
That's not to say that the Hawk pads aren't good...I used them on my Excursion to great results!
