  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Detailing Products YOU Use and Recommend

New question:
My question is: Can I wax his car then leave it while I clean the interior? All work will be done in the shade and the temps outside have been around 60 degrees. I won't damage the paint by not buffing off the wax immediately will I?
Yes, you can let wax linger. It's the polishes, compounds and paint cleaners that need to be removed immediately after application.

New Question:

Am I suppose to stay away from Silicone when looking for tire shiners/cleaners? I looked at every single bottle of tire shine and they all say "petroleum products" or silicone.

Thanks,

Nope. A tire is made in part with Petroleum. Silicone is used in products to protect and clean, rubber, vinyl, and hard plastics. You want to keep the silicone off of leather.

What do you use on the flat black door pillars?

To clean, I use car wash. If you mean as a maintenance job, I will use a Quick Detailer, any will do I use Meguiars, then as a dressing use Mothers Back to Black. It's not greasy and it spreads very evenly.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have found the Back to Black does not last very long, maybe a week at best, before having to reapply. We do have acid rain, and very hard water here.

Doesn't rain much where I live but I hear you. You can try Trim Shine from Stoners, not sure about the longevity compared to Mothers. Vinylex or 303 is also worth trying.

Thanks TJ, where can I purchase 303? I'm in Canada.

You can purchase 303 online through Amazon... I bought my 303 from a boating dealer/supply place. I live near the ocean and apparently 303 is the product to use on boats.

Thanks TJ !!!

The other option is if you have a boat supplies store near you. 303 products are a favorite of the maritime community.

great suggestion, the marine supply near me stocks the whole 303 product line.

I'm going to apply it to the dash, door panels, and door pillars. The label does not state whether it leaves a matte or gloss finish. Anyone with experience using 303 Aerospace Protectant?

Depends a lot on the surface you're applying it too. The more porous the surface usually the more matte it will look. The harder the surface, the more glossy. Try it out, although from what I've seen Vinylex is basically the same stuff and you can get it at any auto parts store. It may be cheaper too, but it's really a push.

I always put two coats of 303 when I do the interior of the car.... after I go through my 303 bottle, I'll try vinylex for comparison.

Just finished detailing in and out with the 303, I'll see soon enough how long it lasts on the exterior as we will have rain all weekend.

Cool, let us know if it lasts long enough for your liking.

Two days of on and off rain and the 303 still beads water on the door pillars, and still looks black. So far so good TJ, thanks.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to use on the Navigation screen? it seems to be a dust magnet. Mine is not a touch screen so fingerprints are not an issue, but I have to remove a dust build up from the screen daily.

I either use Plexus which is specifically made for plastic, or a quick detailer which is an all purpose cleaner which can sometimes streak, but if you wipe the excess off it's fine. Plexus is the best choice for clear plastic. It aint cheap though, but a bottle will last you a long time and you can use it on the headlights, tint, tailights, basically anything plastic.
