If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. First off, I love my car. I also like my dealer.

Last August I purchased a 2013 3.8 V6 Genesis that had been sitting on the dealer lot, for a year. Some of the things that I preferred on the 2013, over the 2014, was the 2013 V6 didn't have the electric power steering, and the fact that it came with a 3 year complimentary offer of the base Assurance Connected Care, over the one year offer on the 2014 model.
This information about the connected care coverage was in my Blue Link Manual, and was also on my Monroney sticker. (it's also still on the hyundaiproductinformation.com website).
Well, about a week ago, I was looking at the myhyundai web site, and noticed that the site said that I only had less than two months to go on my complimentary connected care. At first, I thought they was some error on their part, so I didn't send an email to the Genesis/Equus hot line, until last Thursday. I got a response last Friday to call the Connected Care phone number.
At first, the people I talked to, insisted that Connected Care has always been just one year, complimentary. When I mentioned that my Monroney sticker states that I should be getting three years complimentary, they started passing me up the line. After talking to my fourth human, I was told..."Oh yeah, that was changed, last July". After I heard that, I asked why I wasn't notified, and why my Monroney sticker still says three years of connected care. Their answer was (reading between the lines) "Too bad, that's the way it is".
I called my dealer today, to see what they could do, but was told that Blue Link was the only one who could change this.

I realize that I'm complaining about something that was complimentary, but it still galls me that all my paperwork says three years.

Of course, when I was on the phone with Blue Link, I asked if there was anything else on my Monroney sticker that has been invalidated, like the 10 year Power Trans Warranty. I had to get that dig in, but then I thought, Hey, they could do that, if they wanted to.

End of sad (on my part) story.

PS. I don't plan on buying any new coverage of Connected Care.....In fact, they can go (you know what) themselves.

My understanding is that the sticker is legally binding in terms of what is offered, and they cannot change the terms unless they actually change the sticker before you buy it.

I would contact the state or local district attorney office and file a complaint. However, since the sticker is required by Federal law, you may have to file a complaint with the FTC or something. Refer to the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958.

Or, you could try contacting a consumer affairs TV reporter in your area. They are always looking for stories like this.

There is a disclaimer that says that Hyundai reserves the right to make changes.

I will inspect my options.

Interesting, because my 2012 V6 *has* the electric power steering. I'm assuming this means the power steering pump has an integral electric motor, and isn't driven by belt off the crankshaft.

Nope, see below for 2012 info.

Steering and control technologies

• Engine-speed-sensitive, power steering,
rack-and-pinion (standard on Genesis 3.8)

• Electro-hydraulic power steering (standard on
Genesis 4.6 & 5.0 R-Spec)

My 3.8 has the electro-hydraulic power steering. Not a belt driven power steering.

That is true, but it is not all-electric like many newer cars. The electric motor powers the hydraulic system, instead of crankshaft powering the hydraulic system via belt.

Many experts feel that an all-electric steering system doesn't have the same feel as a hydraulic one (or electric/hydraulic hybrid system), but the all-electric ones are cheaper so they are taking over.

I thought that the purpose of the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958 is that the sticker must disclose the options and other terms. They can't change a warranty once the car is sold, and they can't change the terms of Blue Link unless they change the sticker.

Your beef is with the dealer. He sold it to you and took your money. Up the pressure on them.

I would probably feel that way also about all-electric. I'm real happy with the steering feel of the electric/hydraulic unit in mine.

Like most things, I think they have gotten better with all-electric steering, and it is probably better than it once was.

I had my blue link set up 8 days ago. It is hit and miss on starting by
remote and it has cut the life of my note 3 cell by daily charge 50%.

I am not impressed.....

Greenify it.

After getting a snow job from the Blue Link people, I located an email address for the Hyundai National Customer Care center. I emailed them the entire story, last weekend, and finally got a callback today. The person that I talked to said that if my paperwork said that I should get three years connected care, that's what I should get. He asked me to email him back copies of my Munroney sticker, and any other paperwork. Along with the Munroney, I sent him a copy of my Blue Link manual, and the page from the Hyundai product information website.
He said that it might take a few days to verify my info.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

PS.
Digging through my Hyundai homework, I found a copy of a Munroney for a 2014 Genesis (copied from dealer's website) It also said three years on connected care
Has anyone out there, who bought a 2014 model, get hosed, like me????

Success.

Just got an email...

"I have processed the plan extension to an expiration date of 8/20/2017. It will take 2-3 days to appear on your Bluelink account.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience."

I guess persistence pays off.

You have me thinking. I will have to look at the window sticker for my 14 RSPEC I bought in January of this year. I remember reading somewhere of a 3yr but don't recall. I don't want to get hosed either. Thanks Rich

If you got hosed, let me know. After getting shot down by multiple blue link persons, I contacted Hyundai itself, and got the answers I wanted.
If you need it, I can get you the email address and the name of the guy that helped me.
If your car was shipped sometime after July, 2014, it would be interesting to hear what your window sticker says.

Bill K,

I looked at my Munroney sticker last night for my 2014 R-Spec and it sure does state 3ys of Connected Care. Can you send my the information you have so I can contact them and get my 3 years. I already paid for one full year that ends on January 30 2016. My car sat on the dealers lot for a year. Got a great deal though. Rich
