In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi everyone,

In few days, I am going to order my first Hyundai car, Genesis :)

However, I got a DILEMMA NOW. I am going for a V6 Tech Pack with black interior. But should I go Black exterior or Titanium Grey exterior?

Pros for black = Great Looking, Elegant, conservative, and black is good for Financial Job
Cons for black = easy to spot the scratches and dent and easy to get dirt.

Pros for Titanium Grey = harder to notice when get dirty, not bad looking
Cons for Titanium Grey = not bad looking but not as great as black in my eyes

What would you pick?

Sorry for this stupid question.

Kidulan,
You will see by my signature line that I am obviously biased to the Titanium Grey / Black, however, I actually agree with your assessment that the Black looks better.

I think the answer depends on where you live as much as your personal tastes. When I lived in AZ, I would have gone with the black exterior (despite the heat), because I only had to wash my car every two months given the very little precipitation. Living in MN, I went with the Titanium because it will be much easier to keep it decent looking in the long, snowy winters (IMO).

Thanks for your opinion.

In the deep of my heart, I love Black Exterior much more. However, I live in Vancouver Canada and it did snow a bit in winter time and rain in Spring/Fall.

And I don't think I'll wash my car that often to keep it as clean as I want it to be.

DILEMMA.

And you can see from my sig, I'm biased the other way. :) Blk/Blk is ever so sharp, and in my opinion looks better with the tint, which probably is not a high priority in Canada. The inserts on the wheel caps are black too.

Everyone should own a beautiful black car at least once in their lives, but be prepared to spend more time keeping it clean.

I think you understand the pros and cons well enough, but this is a personal decision that only you can make.

I ordered the Titanium 2 weeks ago
The wife chose the color after I chose the model
I find that gray is not as nice as black, but so much easyer to maintain

Have fun with your new ride

Man, this topic dredges up all of the angst and uncertainty I went through 6 - 8 weeks ago. I've never owned a black car before, largely for the reasons that Viking cites for the climate we both live in. Yet I tend to gravitate to darker colored cars because I think they look sharper. So after a lot of agonizing (exacerbated by the fact that there are very few actual cars out there in the various color combos to look at -- still!), I decided to get the darker (sapphire) blue exterior with a beige interior.

My dealer tried in vain to find that color set -- with a Tech Pkg -- but couldn't. He ultimately sweetened the deal so I'd take the Black/Black Tech car he had on hand.

While I'm still concerned about how I'm gonna keep this car looking good throughout the long winter, for now at least, I gotta say that I LOVE the black exterior. When it's clean, I don't think there's a better looking car out there!

My wife has always wanted a black vehicle and I have always talked her out of it. Black cars are beautiful! I used to paint cars for a living and know how much care it takes to keep them looking great.

I just bought my first black car. I debated long and hard about it but like Simonwpb said, "Everyone should own a beautiful black car at least once in their lives....."

I haven't painted or rubbed on the side of a car in 9 years. I will say that I have really enjoyed getting up on Saturday morning and washing this car to make it look good. Maybe it's just the nostalgia of it all, but it has been fun. Having my little 4 year old girl out there "helping" me has a lot to do with it too.

Long-winded way of saying I think Black/Black is the way to go!

Wow, I didn't know some people have the same dilemma w/ you for color choosing. Currently, I have beige leather cover in my car. And I should kill myself for this decision 5 yrs ago. Well, Beige color looks gorgeous only and only if they are clean and fresh.

After 2~3 yrs of hard time maintenance, my car interior wash frequency became longer and longer. I still love my car but I HATE to the maintenance for interior. So much time consuming.

Therefore I go for Black interior this time for sure. And yes, I love the point that Said by Simonwpb, "Everyone should own a beautiful black car at least once in their lives....."

BLACK/BLACk is the way to go. BLACK/BLACk is the way to go. BLACK/BLACk is the way to go. BLACK/BLACk is the way to go. BLACK/BLACk is the way to go.

Trying to make my life easier :)

Thanks guys

Black/Black is the way to go. I got Black/Black last Saturday and I can't begin to tell you how many comments/looks I have received. The grill on the black stands out much more than other colors. I have the "wings" on the front and rear which adds to the mystique! I am getting windows tinted tomorrow and have ordered the chrome molding strips for the doors. Definitely get black, you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well two of my last three cars were dark colors- Nissan 300ZX Turbo (Black/Dark Grey), Lexus ES300 (Black/Black) and Toyota Echo (Dark Green/Gray)- All I can say is Black/Black is KILLER- Hands down the best color combo- but as many people know- when I use to hand wash my Nissan- I always bring my Lexus and Toyota to dealers to wash- LAZY. But I do remember it very clearly that if I did hand wash my Nissan or Lexus- after like two hours of cleaning, armor all, etc- by the time I was finished washing I could see the dust start piling on and say... CRAP- but all you had to do is see it in the Los Angeles sun and say... NICE

But as most people know- if you do not want to worry about noticeable dirt- have to get a SILVER Colored Car.

My next color car will probably be either one of the following: Green-then a Sapphire Black/Black Interior- just because the last color looks great also- just not as much work to upkeep than all BLACK- but still hard to take care of.

As Kent mentioned his next car might go Green-then a Sapphire Black/Black Interior.

I would share my experience here. My VW Jetta has an Alaska Green. Don't laugh. It is not a normal or metellic green color. In a daytime, it looks like a shiny metallic green/blue Jetta. In night time, it is metallic blue/grey look. and under the basement parking lot, it looks like a metallic light green/grey in color.

But once again. Get dirty easily.

And Jetta is a great car but all tiny problems will come up after 3 yrs one by one.

Here I come GENESIS.

No stupid question.

Nay on the black (but I live in Phoenix, AZ! 105+ days lately.)

Titanium grey has a nice elegant look also.

If we are going to debate colors beyond titanium vs. black I will add I am a fan of green.

My Z4 is 'urban green'. Sort of an olive green. Nobody else has that color and I get lots of compliments on it.

It would have been nice to see a green option for the Genesis.

I've looked at all but the Sapphire Blue Pearl and the Cabernet Red Pearl. Right now I'm torn between Sterling Blue and Titanium Grey. It's hard to make a decision from the Hyundai website. Sterling Blue looks so much better in person than on the website.

Also, I have not been able to see the brown (Saddle?) interior. If anyone has one can you direct me to your pictures so I can see? Same thing for the Sapphire Blue Pearl. Once I see those I can get around to placing my order.

For what it is worth here's something I learned about 10 years ago from a family member who was in automotive marketing for a major US manufacturer: Open the car brochure for the vehicle you are looking to purchase, and look for the biggest, best picture of the car. Usually several millions of dollars have been put into research, surveys, etc. to build this marketing tool, and the most appealing color (per survey) is placed in that picture. After all, they are trying to sell as many of these as possible, right? I always look for this once it was called to my attention. Looking at the brochure(s), both black and titaniun gey are the two prominent colors they show, but the biggest fold-out picture is titaniun grey....one of your choices.

Personally those are my two top color preferences as well, and both seem to fit the research. Either way and you've made a good choice and won't be disappointed. I'd expect people complementing you on the car no matter which one you choose. You have the research backing you up on this one!

Hello blastergaum and welcome to the boards. :welcome:

Thanks for that bit of insight and I agree with it fully!

As for color I was torn between Black and Titanium and since I do not garage my cars my vote is Titanium for an easier to maintain color that looks almost as elegant as the black.

You can look at my photo gallery to see my sapphire blue Genesis, but I have the tan interior.
