  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Disaster has struck!

Did you get your Genesis back yet?

Mine has now been at the dealership just shy of a month. All for a backup camera repair. From what I can tell (the service rep knows nothing), they are talking with Hyundai technical people, and the final step is to fly out the engineer who designed those systems. If that doesn't get the vehicle working, what happens then?

This is pretty rare, right? Genesis is pretty reliable otherwise, right?
Yes, it is overall very reliable. Unfortunately, no matter the brand, some cars do have problems and they are not easily repaired. No matter the brand, there are a few dealers that really suck. None of this is noticed very much when it is the other guy but frustrates the hell out of you when it is your car.

Hopefully, they get your problem resolved and you get many happy years from it.

Well, I got another update. Seems like they are going to put in a new front monitor ($2500) and a new front wiring harness as well. So almost every single component of the AV system has been replaced and it's been over a month and I still don't have my car. And there's still no guarantee that will fix the problems.

$600 for a camera, $2800 for a head unit, god knows what for a parking guidance module and $2500 for a monitor. That's roughly $7000 in repairs and I brought it in for a bad backup camera. That's 1/3 of the price I paid for the car!

This puts any German car I have ever owned (and I've owned a few) to shame. Even in a bad year I would barely crack $2000 in unexpected repairs for my Audis.
