  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today I noticed that when I lock the doors the car doesn't beep. When I unlock the doors it does beep. The car usually beeps for both.

I'm clueless as to why it would just stop all of a sudden.

Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks

First guess: sensors think the hood or trunk isn't closed so the alarm won't arm. Thus no beep. On 1st generation sedans look for a rubber bumper on the hood along the driver side edge, about half-way between the winshield and front of the hood. It pokes into a sensor switch mounted to the inside of the fender - surrounded by that underhood plastic stuff. See if that bumper is a) installed/present, and b) twisted in/out enough to actually push on the switch.

If it IS missing, it's a dealer part and there was a TSB about it missing. To verify if this is your no-beep bug: open the hood, push and hold the button in the fender down while you lock the car with the remote. If you get a beep, this was your bug. Unlock the car again before releasing the hood button! Otherwise it might be a tad loud...

Mike would you by happen to have that tsb number handy? Or know of how to get a hold of it. My car doesn't have that rubber bumper installed.

Car now makes the beep when I lock and unlock. Weird.

I think what happened was my passenger got out of the car before I put the car into park and the doors auto unlock. Maybe it threw it off.

Finicky car with the electronics.

Hey guys I noticed that my car doesn't make the beep when locking.
I looked under the hood and the rubber peice that goes attached to the hood is missing.
Does anyone have a part number for it?

92736-3A000 is the new extended-length "hood switch pad" or "Pad - Lid Switch" as Hyundai calls it. At least that's the number listed in TSB 09-BE-026.

It just happened to me last night, when I got home from a little trip to Iowa! I locked the doors and there was no "chirp" sound, I said to myself: I'll deal with this later...

Today, we were taking my Wife's car, I was backing up from the garage and I noticed that the trunk lid isn't closed! so, I stopped, went back to the house, grabbed my key, unlocked the doors, open and closed the trunk lid, lock it again, BAM! chirp is back! :D
