  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi folks, my gennys door glasses are not double glazed! And i wonder to know those who have genesis with double glazed glass experience! Is there a big difference between normal glass and double glazed glass? What difference you feel?

On the 2009 the front door glass is laminated like the front windshield

The 5.0 Ultimate was very quiet - more so than the 3.8 IMO The double glaze in the new Impala was not up to the 3.8 and seems like it can't over come the 20" or 19" tires/rubber. Salesman blamed the road surface-highway did the same noise. Drove the Gennys and the Azera, over the same roads-BIG difference.
You'll enjoy the quiet when you go for a test ride.

So the double glazed glass can decrease which kind of sound? Wind noise or tire noise?
Glass with sound insulation reduces all noise to some degree. However, tire noise "tends" to come up from the bottom of the car. The best way to reduce tire noise is to purchase quiet tires. Reviews on TireRack.com will show which tires are the quietest according to customer reviews.

Thanks alot for your help. Changing my windows will cost too much, so do you think its worthy to change my normal windows with double glazed windows? If the change is not dramatic?

At least on the Genesis, tire noise is common on the OEM tires (especially Dunlops). Getting a tire that is known to be quiet will fix that problem. Tires should be inflated to 33 PSI or only slightly higher. Obviously, if you drive on terrible roads, then not sure what can be done about that.

As far as wind noise, on the Genesis that is usually the result of a window not closing all the way, and/or some problem with the rubber gasket around the windows. Some people have reported wind noise caused by a problem with the side view mirror, which they got the dealer to fix under warranty.

Thanks alot for clarifying. I think you are right, even with normal glasses the wind noise is minimum (not good enough as double glazing) but it has ability to prevent many kinds of noises. I think the major compain is tire noise that cant be decreased by double glazing, and must check quieter tires. Thanks
