  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Talk to no one else but Steve Cook, Douglas Hyundai, Santa Ana.

I don't necessarily like these wheels, but none of them are bad. Gives a good look-see as to what can be done.

Am I seeing things or are those wheels 20s...I thought (maybe wrongly) that the Genesis came with 18s...If they are 20s does it throw off the navigation system or any other tech problems...Personally I think the wheels on the Blue or black car-can't tell which for sure- look pretty good.

I like the wheels in the third picture.. They're not "too much".. I don't see why bigger or smaller wheels would throw off navigation.. An adjustment may need to be made for the speedometer...

Generally going to 20's, which all of these in the pix are, is the same wheel diameter because you drop height off the rubber to lower profile tires. In esssence the car is the same as stock.

I put 20's on my Edge and when the dealer measured, the diameter was exactly the same as the stock 17" wheels that had higher profile tires.

The only thing is some shops try to rip you off by charging a boat load of cash to install TPS kits to the new wheels.

Tell them to stuff it if they try to charge you more than $5-$10 per wheel for that. Most cars just takes aluminum straps to attach them to the wheels. If you're spending $1,500-$3,000 on wheels, they should bury this cost.

This is just my opinion but neither of the rims are really my style, I guess I never got caught up in the whole DUB style. I prefere the wheels pictured on the Black Genesis from Korea in jwaters943 picture profile those wheels to me look more elegant then the wheels above.

One thing I would like to know is how is the ride in those cars with such a low profile tire I am sure it is not as comfortable or quite as before?

I ask only because when I changed my tires from a 50 profile to a 45 profile I really noticed the difference. And these tires are going from a 50 profile to a 40 profile, I fear the potholes will not be so forgiving on these wheels/tires above.

The wheels look really small, it must be the style of the wheel as certain design elements make them look smaller or larger. I think with aftermarket wheels, especially with lower profile tires you need to lower the ride height, as both of these have a floating look that also contributes to making the wheels look smaller.

In regards to lower profile tires (I have 35 series on my current car) they do increase the road noise significantly especially if you use Z rated tires and they will most likely transmit more shock to the vehicle because they have to be inflated at a higher tire pressure. You will get better handling most likely however. I don't think potholes will be a huge issue, I've hit some HUGE potholes from Georgia to New Hampshire and never caused any problems, I've had more problems with my old 65 series tires because they had very weak sidewalls and on huge potholes would bubble.
