  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I searched and can't find that this issue has been discussed.

I have a 2015 5.0 Ultimate.

The driver side front door requires more effort to close than the other doors, and a little more effort than I think it should require. If I close it with the same effort as the other doors (or with the same effort it took to close the door on my 2012 5.0 R Spec) it "catches" but doesn't close completely.

I took it in to the dealership (I had a couple of other small issues) and they said it was "because the car has such a tight seal." When I picked the car up I showed the service advisor that the driver side front door takes significantly more effort to close than the passenger side front door. So much for the "tight seal" explanation. He sort of shrugged his shoulders and said, "It's a 2015 and they haven't worked out all the bugs yet." He also indicated that even if they acknowledge it's a problem, they don't know how to fix it.

Anyone know anything about this?

All the doors on my car require a deliberate hand to close. It's not like they don't fit or require some crazy effort to close but it's like there is a lot of pressure inside the cabin slowing the door as it catches. This car really could benefit from soft close doors (though I doubt my trim level would include such a feature). I don't find it a problem as much as a nuance. It's not even a problem now, we all know that we pull or push the doors with a little extra force.

Nope, mine close fine. You do have to give a good shove to make it close but it is do to the seal as you noted. I cracked my window and it does take less effort to close.

I would inspect these things:
1). Check to see if the small rubber bumpers located at the base (vertical wall) of the doors are properly seated. Maybe it isn't installed correctly. I tend to knock mine off once in a while when cleaning the door jabs. They pop right back in but they can go in on an angle and not be installed properly.

2). Check the gaps around the drivers door to see if it matches the gaps around the passenger door. It not the same, adjust the door accordingly until they are or have the dealer do it

Having the window lower 1/2" when open and then automatically going full up after closed solves this for others in this segment where the car is sealed well.

Typically only used with frameless windows to prevent breakage.
