  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For those who already own an Equus and have driven it for longer trips... have you noticed any issues with comfort with the seat cushion like the gentleman noticed from below?? Or it happens to be a very rare problem with other owners.

I found this post from a gent replying to CNETs review of the Equus:

Just had the opportunity to test drive the Equus. Really loved most everything about it and was ready to buy it but noticed a problem with the front seat. After about 30 minutes of driving I could feel the seat frame through the seat bottom. It became very uncomfortable. I have noticed that on a few other cars a similar problem, one being the Lexus LS 460. the seat on that car has very angular bulsters and relatively thin foam padding especially in the area that supports the hip joint. The Equus is even worse. This is a very serious problem. The thought of going on a long road trip sitting on this seat is just not acceptable. Even the salesman at the dealership had to admit that he could feel the problem. Would like to hear some other opinions on this issue. I am a relatively tall 6'-2" male and weigh about 250#

WWB_ca: this is for you, since you recently were on a long road trip. What are your thoughts on the comfort level of the Eq's seat cushions?

We found the seats comfortable enough ... we are average and mid-weight folks (see photo elsewhere).
Although the seats are about the same as my previous Lexus LS430, the day we did Wpg to Shelby, MT (about 14 plus hours of actual driving), we both walked around with a bit of 'hip pain'. I can't really attribute this to the Equus seats as I have had 'hip pain' symptoms after driving long distances in various cars (including a Volvo in Europe for long distances).
Perhaps, the seat bottoms could have a bit more range for vertical adjustment in the back part of the seat bottoms - that's just a thought to aid in design.
Let's hear from others who drive long distances.
We will be heading off on another long trip (appr. 7,500 km) SW USA Trip with some German visitors - that will test the rear seating of the Equus.

1, he is 250 plus, 2, he spells bolster bulster:). I am 230 and have not noticed any problem.

However taking the complaint seriously, one could easily put another cushion....memory foam would be best for "bulstering", on the seat.

Walter: I also teach the 13TH & 14th grade:)

No complaints on our 2500 mile Chi-Fla trip in April, doing it again in Oct.

On edit:
Should add that we stop every 90-120 minutes for a 10 minute stretch/smoke break. It's actually pretty stupid to not stop and stretch smoker or not.
Or so I've read.

I disagree...smoking is not at all wise.

My pleasure, BTHC:)

I'm 200#, and I'm comfortable when I drive. When I'm a passenger, the passenger seat bottom is too short for me and I feel the edge of the seat cutting into part of my thigh. I use the extension in the drivers' seat, but it isn't on the passenger's side.

I noticed a similar feel in the seat cushion on the passenger side. After sitting on the seat for a half hour or so, the front of the seat (which is firmer than the seat itself) cuts into the underside of my legs. It's very uncomfortable on long trips.

ALSO. . . take a close look at the pin holes on the cushion. Do you see any "threads" coming through the holes? If so, please let me know. I believe that those "threads" are from the padding. It gives the interior a "Cheap" look to it.

UNCOMFORTABLE Driver Seat cushioning ...

Yessiree Baby! I am 6'0" 230 and the front seat is just too uncomfortable for me. It feels like the seat is bottoming out without padding. This is really not acceptable in any car, let alone a luxury machine like the Equus. Jury-rigging
a seat cushion will only put your head closer to the headliner. The support and padding need to be in the seat. This is a pronounced defect that makes the car unenjoyable, which is a real shame. Anyone got a fix for this?
