  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Everyone,
I just joined GenesisOwners.com. I purchased a 09 Genesis 3.8 a few months, and have been very satisfied with it.

My drivers seat was experiencing a clicking noise when I would move it back and fourth. I had it looked at under warranty and they recently replaced the following:
29243-3C800 - Insulator
88500-3M210 - Track Assy-FR Seat Driver 88

The dealer had never replaced the seat in a Genesis before and they were having problems getting it apart when I stopped in to view the progress. (The process took about 5 work days)

I went to pick up the car today and before I took delivery I noticed the following MAJOR problems:

1. The drivers seat headrest looked like it had "split apart" and the headrest had been forced forward leaving a gap in the back.
This makes me wonder if someone just bumped the headrest while the seat was being installed in the car, or if the Electronic Head Restraint safety feature had been triggered due to carelessness.

2. The lapbelt was not attached to the seat at all rendering it useless.

Needless to say I did not take delivery and kept my loaner.

I spoke with the dealership owner about the problems and I will find out tomorrow what "solution" they can provide for me.

My looming concerns are:
1. Has the electronic head restraint system been compromised? Does it need replaced? And how do I know that it will work in the future?

2. The fact that they did not attach the seatbelt is a concerning in itself, let alone the thoughts that are now going through my head regarding the ability of the dealership to ensure that the seat itself is actually properly put together. Can I even trust that this seat will perform properly in an accident? (Remember the dealership did say that they had never replaced a seat in a Genesis and they were having a difficult time)

There were also minor issues with the seat:
1. The decorative "screw covers" on the track were missing
2. The control to move the seat back and forth tended to stick when moving the seat which I believe is caused by the plastic on the seat pressing outward (towards the door) on the lever.
3. The front plastic of the seat (below where the leather in the front stops) was not secured properly.

Thanks for any advice

one your first number 1 the head rest can be reset. Not a big thing. On the other stuff hold their feet to fire and keep the loaner until everything is to your satisfaction. Good luck.

Is there any chance they replaced your original seat with one from a wrecked Genesis? That might explain the popped headrest and maybe some of the other issues.
