Hey everyone,

Having a slight issue and would like to figure out if its user error or if i need to take it to the dealership.

My driving information/Cruise Control settings randomly reset when parked over night. I track my Gas mileage and miles every time i fill up but it randomly resets and starts all over again. I have set it to reset when i fill up gas. Any input would be appreciated.

Car is a 2018 G80 3.8 ultimate model

Thank you

I am not sure what you mean by the cruise control settings being reset. You need to be a little more specific on that for me. However the gas mileage is controlled by a setting in the LCD display. You may have it set to reset every 4 hours instead of after every refill.

there are 2 setting in my car and one resets every fill up and the other one is 4 hours too i believe

How do you get to that setting?

My mileage also resets before I refuel, and it's a bit frustrating, so I just write down the mileage when I fillup now.
I also noticed that my fuel mileage avg. also resets for no reason.

This is how it is on the G90. I can’t be sure for other cars:
1. On the LCD display go to USER SETTING
2. Under USER SETTINGS go to OTHER FEATURES
3. Under OTHER FEATURES go to FUEL ECONOMY AUTO RESET
4. Select the option of your choice

Frankly I wish I could set it to reset every time the car starts but that is not an option. Just after 4 hours or after refueling.

first of all i apologize for saying it wrong. my second page i do manually when i fill up and my third page is automatic after four hours.when your going thru your settings for it it should be there and not just for one of the trip but the other one two. on our trip computer we have 4 sections. 1 is the average trip with instant mpg. 2 is trip a. 3 is trip b. 4 is speedometer. here are the pics

I just found my settings, and mine is set to reset after refueling, which it is not doing.
I'll talk to the service mgr. next month when I go in for an oil change.

The Fuel Economy and accumulated info is set to reset after every refuel but it will randomly restart without me refueling the car. My Cruise control settings as in the how many cars distance to keep and AEB settings on when to brake resets randomly also.

I think i am going to do the same when i go for my oil change.

Mine is set to reset after refueling. That works fine but randomly it will reset for now reason. There is no timing of this or anything I can come up with that always correlates when it happens. Also when it does that the blind spot is unchecked for no reason in the items to display on the HUD. It also resets on the INFO button from the tire pressure to the lane keep. Had it in dealer and they talked to Hyundai whom has no idea. They said unless they can catch it happen when they have the laptop hooked up to the car they won't be able to figure it out, which they did and drove it around but unfortunately it didn't happen. I now unchecked the reset after refueling in hopes it won't do it any longer, I'm fine with that.

I may have an answer to those have problems with their mpg not resetting. I have a G90 but the same should be true for G80. Not sure about other models.
Here goes:
There are THREE places where MPG show up in the Trip Modes on the LCD display. Each of these places reset under DIFFERENT rules.
1. Fuel Economy - This is on only place that pays attention to what you have set in User Settings. You can set it for After Refueling or After 4 Hours after turning off the ignition
2. Drive Info - ALWAYS resets after 4 Hours after turning off the ignition. Makes no difference how the users settings are set
3. Accumulated Info - NEVER resets unless you reset it manually.

I think some of the confusion results from looking in the wrong one of these three places. Other confusion can some from no realizing the 4 hour rule. It means overnight or whenever the engine has been off for 4 or more hours.

Personally, I wish it would reset every time the car is started but that is not an option.

Mcc is correct and may clarify what is supposed to happen. It is easy to misconstrue and expect the Accumulated miles to reset. I do that myself at fillup.
I'm not sure what is best on the 4 hour reset. Sometimes I would forget to reset one of the odometers when leaving. Now it is reset but I sometimes forget to look before exiting the car for the day. I don't know of four hours is a good time or not. I can see stopping at an event for a bit over four hours and you'd not want a reset.

I am also getting random Accumulated Information resets. It was originally set for after refueling but I changed it to manually but it still continues to reset. I mentioned this to dealer and they said I may be hitting reset button since it only takes 1-2 seconds. Additionally, I found that when this information resets, it causes the Blind Spot display in the HUD to turn off. Not being able to keep accumulated trip data and then having to reset the HUD every time the display wants to reset is a pain.

I am also getting random Accumulated Information resets. I manually reset it every time I refuel. 6 put of the 17 times I have refueled I have found it to have reset randomly. This is effecting the Trip, Hours, Fuel avg and Blind Spot on the HUD. I mentioned this to dealer on my December oil change and they said there was a SW update for the radio and loss of settings released around the 26th. It did not fix my problem. Additionally, I found that when this information resets, it causes the Blind Spot display in the HUD to turn off. Not being able to keep accumulated trip data and then having to reset the HUD every time the display wants to reset is a pain. Has anyone received a fix yet. Actually seems worse after the Dec 26th update.

I've seen similar behavior in my 2019 G80 Sport, but the drive mode also changes from Eco to Normal randomly on startup, with the dash display changing from trip info to the instant mileage readout. I haven't seen any issues with the HUD. Seems every car is an individual with its own quirks.

Serendipitously, I noticed this issue this week on my 2018 G80 3.3T Sport HTRAC/AWD (28K miles). I religiously reset the ACCUMULATED (A-Trip), not Drive Info (DI-Trip), mileage at fill-up. I use this mileage to track gas consumption/MPG.

Specifically, this week I filled up gas tank, reset the A-Trip and drove back to office (about 4 miles). Departing office that evening A-Trip = 0 miles. Where’d the 4 miles go 😉 !?!

I’ve had a about 4 anomalous calculated MPG results over the life of this vehicle. ~ -4 lower MPG calculated versus what car MPG showed and much lower than typical. I previously attributed this to me/operator error, but now suspect the A-Trip was reset unexpectedly/by ghost in the machine shortly after fill-up. I’ll be watching for this henceforth. I’ve not seen any of the other resets (HUD, LDW, CC, BSD , etc.) reported above.

At lunch today I change FUEL ECONOMY AUTO RESET from On -> Off. My understanding is this should NOT influence/affect A-Trip.

Modern vehicles are rolling computers. Every once in a while electrons misbehave and cause these oddities.

This morning I noticed the Blind Spot Detection (BSD) was not showing in HUD. Checking the settings it was not enabled in the HUD. I am 99.9% sure the BSD in HUD has been enabled since I bought the vehicle. I've re-enabled this setting and will monitor it in the future.

I think Victoria (name of my 2018 G80 Sport 3.3 HTRAC/AWD w/ 27K miles) has been reading this thread and is "busting my chops". Argggggggggggh!:cool:

It has been my experience that if you turn it off with the dash switch, you'll need to go into the settings to get it show up again in the HUD display.

Update
Back to the dealership to report the problem. Couldn't find any error codes couldn't do anything and sent me on my way.
I did discuss it with the mechanic and I asked him if it could be resetting on its own after I fill up. He wasn't sure. But that lead to a different conversation. I have topped off (1 or 2 more squeezes on the handle to make sure it is really full) in the past and he mentioned that is bad as it could over flow into a charcoal canister filter causing other problems. Good to know as we don't need more proems.
My thought on filling up was maybe the sensor is resetting (after I always manually reset it at fill up) when the tank is pretty full, again after a fill up. I checked the mileage difference between actual and accumulated info and it was between 6 and 80 miles. Several numbers in-between, 80 seems high as it means an autoreset happened after about 3 to 4 gallons were used. Not sure how the sensor works to know when you fill up or what an actual fill up is considered (is adding 5 gal to a half empty tank a fill up or do you actually need to fill it all the way up. I always fill all the way up). Maybe the sloshing is causing an auto reset. So I have turned off the setting to reset MPG automatically after fill up and will see if that helps with the other items getting reset.

Another update.
Another random reset after leaving work today. Gas tank between half and 3/4th full (so not close to being full). Also the blind spot monitor icon was also automatically unchecked, which seems like a safety concern. There is absolutely no way I accidentally pushed the bottoms to reset it and turn off BSM icon from displaying on the HUD.

Anyone have any ideas?
