Driver's seat air conditioner is anemic

Looking at the factory service manuals (available from www.hmaservice.com - anybody can sign up) in chapter 13 ("Body electrical System"), section:
Body Electrical System > Seat Electrical > Climate Seat Unit > Description and Operation (page 788 of 1180 when I printed the whole 2009 version as a giant PDF file using the "print" icon on the web site) states:

Comparing with the seat heat function by the existing thermic rays, Climate Control Seat functions the
heating,cooling, dehumidifying by using TED.
It inhales the indoor air through the blower installed at the seat cushion lower part, and supplies the air into the seat
cushion and the seat back through the duct.
It heats or cools the air supplied from TED set up at the tip of the duct.
It sends a slight heated or cooled air throughout the seat surface through the air channel set up at seat cushion and seat back.​

So one thermoelectric cooling device feeding a single blower fan feeding a "Y" duct setup to the seat bottom and seat back. I too wish the air distribution had less to the seat bottom and more to the back. I might "tweak" that on my car soon.

Just to reaffirm, both seat bottom and back are heated/cooled.

Well, I got the car back last Friday and all is better. The pictures FIAT linked to are what I saw in the seat back (sorry, didn't think to get a picture of mine). They claimed that it was working just fine when I dropped it off but I was getting NO air flow in my seat back. Whatever they did (maybe just taking the duct off and reseating it) I now have cool air flowing in the seat back. I actually have to turn it off #3 setting after a while because it cools too much.

I believe the problem was the same as stated above and that reconnecting the two ducts (one in the seat bottom joins with one in the back to carry air flow to the seat back) did the trick.

This sounds like a simple problem to address at the assembly point for the front seat, whether at the original manufacturer or on the assembly line at Hyundai. Judging by the number of people just on this thread who are reporting the problem, I can't imagine why Hyundai hasn't posted anything to the dealers to make the tech's job a little easier. It seems that communication between the plant and the dealers is a little bit lacking. This looks like a job that would have only taken a few hours if the plant had told the tech what to look for.
 
FWIW, my brother in law has a used Lexus GS 350. Paid more than I would care to pay for a car (Hence I'm a proud Genesis owner, since I have all the features he has at a fraction of the cost...and look just as good as he does driving down the road), and I asked him what he thinks of the cooled seats in his Lexus. We live in Tucson so we KNOW our air conditioning. He said the AC seats "work really well...in the winter". I got his point immediately. He basically said it almost doesn't help at all, unless you're going to be in the car for a long time. In other words, if you have a 10 minute commute in your car that's been sitting out in the Sonoran sun for 8 hours, it ain't gonna feel like you dipped your balls in liquid nitrogen, no matter how big the holes are in your leather (clogged or not). These seats aren't going to freeze your ass off (especially if you live where it routinely hits 115 degrees). But anything helps. I'm curious to see what it's like this summer. This will be my first summer with the Genny and first summer with a car with an AC seat. I hope the Genesis was engineered better than the Lexus GS 350 was...and it sounds like it may have been after reading this post.

Either way, if you're thinking of coughing up the extra dough for the Tech package just so you can feel your bum get chilly, I'd think twice. Ya better really want some of the other options that come with it too, or you will probably be disappointed that you spent $8000 more for a luke warm hiney instead of a hot one.
