  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We are considering buying Genesis 3.8 AWD with Signature and Tech package. On test drive, my wife who is 5' 0" found that her eye level is just below the top of the left outside mirror when seat is at full elevation. The mirror and door post combined block her visibility when doing a left hand turn. Question: Is there a way to increase the seat elevation by another 2"?

Did she adjust the seat height? There are a few settings to raise the seat. You can rise the back of the seat up as well as the whole seat upwards.

You could probably get a bushing or spacer at a hardware or big box store and longer bolts for the rear mountings of the front seats. I dd that for my '09 Genesis, first for the passenger and then for the driver's side seat.

Lots of people were doing that to the 2013-2015 Honda Accord as well due to the poor seats.

My 5'0" wife can drive the Gen 1 perfectly fine. With the Gen 2 having superior seats, I'm surprised this is even an issue.

Yes, we raised the seat to it's upward limit and it wasn't enough. I'm hoping that Service Department can tinker with the limit switch to get another 2 inches.

Service Manager says no way to increase seat height. Concerns about air bag alignment. Too bad; this is a deal breaker. As much as I love this car, my wife's safety is foremost consideration. Good bye Hyundai; hello Lexus.

Funny. About 9 months before I bought the Genesis, my wife was looking for a new SUV, as her 2001 Lexus RX300 was getting tired. At the top of the list was the Sante Fe (the bigger one). Loved the features, ride, looks, etc. But since she is 5'0", the seat had to come up and in. At the seat position which enabled her to reach the pedals and wheel, her knees were jammed against the underside of the dash. Pretty uncomfortable and unsafe.

We ended up getting a Lexus RX350.

It's too bad, as we would have liked the rear seat heaters, panoramic roof, and other niceties that the RX doesn't have. And the cheaper price.

My wife is about 5' 0" and the first thing she said on getting behind the wheel was that the seat didn't go high enough. She felt very comfortable in our 06 Azera. Also miss the adjustable pedals very much, they allowed her to sit back a safe distance from the steering wheel and still reach the pedals. On the Geny and most other cars, she sits right at the steering wheel which is not a safe position.

On my 2011 optima the passenger had no option for up and down but I bought risers and helped a lot.
Something like this

she's quite short. does she have that problem in other cars? The genisis is a big car, and it seems comfortable for big people. Does she have a short torso?

Yes she has a short torso and short legs. At max seat height her eyes a about an inch below the top of the left mirror. On other cars, the seat goes higher. That is why Hyundai lost a sale to Lexus.

My 5'4" wife can't get her Hyundai Genesis up as much as she wants.
