  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Driver's Seat

I have a 3.8 AWD leather seats and love the drivers seat with one exception. The driver seat does not seem to incline far enough upright. Took it to the dealer and they said it there was nothing wrong with the recline/incline. But it does not seem to incline as much as the passenger seat and it doe not incline anywhere near as much as my 2001 Maxima or my 2009 Rav 4 power seats do.

The issue is probably something with the memory stop on the seat and it needs to be reprogrammed. I had the same issue. If they say there isn't a problem, ask to see another Genesis and the difference will be obvious. It is a very simple fix.

Problem resolved! I took my 3.8 AWD to an auto upholstery shop and they changed the padding on my driver's seat, specifically they removed the seat and built up the middle part of the seat bottom. This made a world of difference and I can now tolerate trips longer than 1 hour. Unfortunately it set me back about $340.00 but it's a lot less than what I would have lost had I traded the car in.

clg763, you may very well have saved my relationship with my Genny! When I get some time, I will find a good local auto upholstery place and have at it.

Any specifics about what they did to the seat? Was the problem readily apparent to them when you took it in?

Does this change of padding interfere with the seat ventilation? I used this for the first time yesterday and it really makes the seat more comfortable.

To GDT & nickpike,

When I took it in the owner of the upholstery shop knew immediately what needed to be done. He wanted to take down the side bolsters and replace middle padding on the seat bottom. Because of the seat design he was only ably to build up the center padding, this only became apparent when the seat was removed for re-padding. My seat is not ventilated, the heat seat system still works fine but if it was ventilated it would have been a problem. Hope this helps. The shop I used was Redan Auto Upholstery in Newington CT 860-666-4005.
