  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got my Genny back today. The problem was a limit switch. I am sharing this to possibly help others as it took a LONG time (4 trips to the dealer) to get this intermittent problem fixed. The seat would not move back or the seat would not move in either direction.

I'm glad it's resolved for you.

What problem? Is there an original thread where you explained the problem?

Hi Mark:

This was posted 10/1/2011:

I have reviewed all the posts that I could find on this forum regarding this issue. I have had intermittent problems for over a year, but today I almost had to call for a tow truck.

The seat did not retract to my setting, as it sometimes refuses to do. I tried a manual adjustment to move the seat back and that did not work. I tried moving the seat forward and that worked. I again tried to move seat back with no result. I again tried to move the seat forward, and that worked. At that point, my knees were touching the dash. I escaped the car (not easy at my age) and thought ... what the heck ... since the car is no longer driveable by me, I will run the seat full forward and that worked and then, lo and behold, the seat then responded when I tried to move it back.

This car obviously has to go in for service. Does anybody know if there is something that I can tell the service manager to get this fixed quickly? Prior posts on this issue are not encouraging (switches changed, motors changed, problems not resolved). Service for these kinds of problems has not been my favorite part of ownership.

Thanks!

Taking the car in today to get the Driver's seat limit switches replaced. Car seat is stuck all the way forward. At 6' tall, it's going to be interesting trying to drive it there... might have to have the wife drive it :-)

Made a video as backup evidence in case of the inevitable "problem suddenly fixes itself in front of the service writer".
