If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Drove a 2019 KIA K900 yesterday

If you plan on keeping the car for several years the resale doesn't really matter. Great deal for somebody if they are interested in this model.

And hopefully those plans don't change and find you needing to sell the car and take a big hit
I am not saying its not a good deal at the $12-13K off the sticker, relatively speaking,..but just understand that the value of these is likely going to take a huge tumble downward in the first 3 years

The thing is all cars depreciate greatly when you drive them off the lot. If that's your concern and you turn around cars every few years you might be better off leasing rather than buying.

As you probably know there are large differences in the way cars , in the same price range when they were new, depreciate
So total cost of ownership...since depreciation is going to be your biggest cost in the first 3 years....is going to vary greatly

For instance look at what a 4 year old ( 2015)Toyota Avalon is worth compared to the same year K900...and then look at their new cost

As for leasing...I am not a lease buyer as there seems to be no end in that game and not good unless you can write the lease payment for business etc

As I said before...this K900 will be a phenomenal deal at 3 years old becuase of its depreciation
The majority of them will be leased anyway...so its probably not going to be hard to find a 2-3 year old model on car lots

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I picked up my '15 Genesis V8 with 14,000 miles. It was marked down 40% off sticker after only 2 years in service! Look for corporate cars. They are usually gently used and have all of the maintenance done.

I would bet this Kia K900 will be worth 50%( at best) of its sticker after two years

Sad, but alas words of wisdom. I can see past the KIA badge, but most won't...let alone, be seen in a KIA service waiting area. That would be too pedestrian.

I'm sure it will, but I don't want a 3 year old car. Fortunately, most car buying is not a rational decision or we'd all be in trouble. Two over simplified scenarios.
If everyone decided to buy used, the auto industry would collapse and the economy would be in trouble. The price of used cars would escalate and not be a good value.

If everyone bought new only, depreciation would be 100% as soon as you signed the papers. Really nice cars would be scrapped before their true end of life as no one wanted to buy them.

Fortunately, we have a balance that keeps most of us happy. We need both new and used buyers and the used buyer a couple of tiers.

I just saw K900 sales thru September. Kia sold 32 for the month and 311 year to date. I wonder wonder what Kia's plans are for this model in the US? The Cadenza isn't much better.

From what I learned from AlexOnAutos, Kia does not set any sales expectations for K900 in the US. They do not even try to advertize K900 in the US.

Apparently, K900 does pretty well in Korea and the Middle East. Bringing K900 to the US is more like testing the water. If it sells, great. If it doesnt sell, no big deal.

As far as depreciation, all luxury cars hit depreciation really hard. Not just Kia. The fact that this car is a unicorn really makes it appealing to me.

That is one of the many reasons we have leasing

I dont agree with you that most car buying is not a rational decision
I would say most luxury cars are not a rational buying decision...but the majority of cars sold are not luxury cars

That in itself presents a issue for cars like this Kia( and the Genesis models)
Luxury car buyers are less rational...so a "more rational" car doesn't seem to make much of a difference in their minds
They want what they want...and little things make a bigger difference

Cars with strong resale...like the Avalon I mentioned before...take several years to get to half of their original value

This car is not nearly in the price range, or have the type of buyer..in my opinion.....that doesnt care about losing a significant amount in depreciation comparatively speaking

Like I said before...I am betting 50%( or less) of the sticker value in 2 years on this Kia K900

Depreciation has hit this car significantly in the past
Even with the massive discounting they are not selling today.....you can best believe you wont get a Mercedes E class or BMW 5 series for $13K off the sticker

That being said its a great deal...
However I would expect its going to lost significantly more than the discount you receive in short order

Most likely for those that must have a new car. I wonder if the significant discounts can be combined with any lease offers currently available?

I would say that its a buyers market for this car..in a big way
I would negotiate down on any advertised deal you see on the Kia K900

Had 2011 Genesis 4.6 I bought new in May 2011. After 8.5 years of faithful service and over 104,000 trouble-free miles it was time to start looking for something new to drive for another 7-8 years. I was following this thread for years and was planning to get G90 within a year or so. However, new 2020 style while quite impressive looked too much (too futuristic?) for my taste.
About 2 months ago learned about 2nd generation K900 and it stirred my interest. Nearest I could test drive was almost 1 hour away. It hit all the right marks in my books and last week I purchased Lakestone / Beige K900 with VIP package. Traveled over 7.5 hours from Central Florida to Kennesaw north of Atlanta to get exact color combination I wanted. It was the only one Lakestone / Beige within 500 miles radius from my place and the price was right too. Planned buying in cash but had to finance small amount to get an additional $3,500 incentive from KIA. I can pay it off after 3 regular monthly payments. Also got another $250 off what was dealership promotion for that weekend because of some important Falcons game. It brought final price to the very low 50's with OTD (including all taxes, registration, etc.) right around $54,500. Price also included life-time powertrain warranty, 2 years free maintenance, and ceramic 3M Crystalline tint.
As one reviewer wrote - "You have better chance of seeing McLaren and Buggatti driving side by side on the highway than ever meeting K900 on the road" and I like it. Yes, it does have KIA badge what does not bother me a bit. Plus K900 KIA badge is also unique - it has dark red carbon fiber background (not black as any other KIA). I enjoy exclusivity of K900 here in the US. Not sure if true, but another reviewer mentioned that in Korea they sell over 12,000 of them a year outselling Souls and next two countries by K900 sale volumes are China and Russia.
Driving K900 for the second week was absolute pleasure. With 50/50 front/rear weight distribution and AWD it handles extremely well and is noticeably faster than Genesis V8. Level of K900 technology is unbelievable exceeding 2020 G90 features. Specifically 12.3" Full LCD TFT Instrument Cluster with selectable themes.
In conclusion. Do yourself a favor and test drive K900 if you have one available withing reasonable distance. You may end up buying it too :)

Saw one the other day -- very impressive. A couple of reviews said there was a bit more road noise than typical in this luxury category. Is that the case?

It is certainly quieter than my previous Genesis 4.6. In fact, one of the video reviewers was measuring noise levels inside 2019 K900 and it was on par or lower than latest Lexus LS and MB S-series. I had to turn on "enhanced engine sound mode" in settings to enjoy at least some growl (albeit fake) during acceleration.

New 2019 K900s in the Chicago area are being offered for under $50k!
Visited Bill Bryan Kia in Leesburg FL today. Saw a white K9 (I mean K9000) in showroom. Did not pay much attention to it except it was
1. White.
2. Beautiful Brown interior.
3. 3.3Turbo, 8 speed transmission.
4. Shift by wire shifter knob snd
5. Paddle shifter.
6. MSRP $62xxx. Idiot Dealer has a bump up sticker showing $69xxx.

Yes, it does look stodgy. (I might go back and take a closer look at it but no way will I drive it. - may like it too much).

Took another look at the car.
K900. Looks great except the rear end looks very old fashioned.
