  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dumped the Genesis today due to poor service...

I paid $33k and change for a new 2013 3.8 Tech. I feel I received a tremendous value for this vehicle and plan on keeping it 8-10 years. With the Platinum 10/100 warranty, I'll have very few out of pocket expenses and have no worries about the residual value.

Worry about resale value for a new car? Nothing bought new except the exotics will maintain any "reasonable" value after 2-3 years. If you're concerned about resale, buy a 3 year old car off a lease. The bulk of depreciation has already been witnessed and the next 3-5 will be better. The problem is most people want new.

If you are in the habit of selling a car after 18 months from when you bought it new, you are going to get reamed regardless of the brand you buy.

I don't have data on this...but I imagine that Hyundais might take a little more of a beating since when bought new a 10yr/100k powertrain warranty is included, which is lost to subsequent owners.

All the more reason to buy the 10/100 Platinum warranty, even if you don't plan on keeping the car that long (but longer than the base warranty). You'll probably get most of it back when selling the car (and transferring the warranty).

Some people just don't get it.....

My car is worth $14.5K according to KBB. its a 2009 with 100K on it. I've done minimal maintenance to it. I just changed the spark plugs and had a coolant flush. This was my first coolant flush by the way. EVER!

I've maybe changed the air filters two time too... so I basically have no money into this car after I purchased it 5 years ago. Oh, I did purchase tires...

Same freaking brakes too people!!!

Every one has different experiences but can someone tell me that they have this same story with a Mercedes Benz or BMW? Oh, maybe an Infiniti? Name any other lux brand.... you can't.

Hyundai is a value brand that is producing luxury cars. Go cry about trade in value somewhere else...

I do agree though, most Hyundai dealerships suck...

New owners don't actually pay the full cost for Hyundai to provide the 10 yr / 100K mile powertrain warranty to all original purchasers. The only cost that needs be recouped is for when an original purchaser keeps their car more than 5 years and makes a claim. As I am sure you know, a lot of people don't keep their new car more than 5 years, and most that do keep it past 5 years don't keep it the full 10 years or 100K miles. So it is probably not as bad as it looks. I am quite sure that Hyundai has a lot of historical statistical data on this.
