  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dynomax VT Mufflers Installed

If your exhaust system looks like this (from under the car) then they will be located in the same position. You need a 14" muffler, 2.25 " diam., with an offset inlet. Where the muffler exits can be adjusted with a small pipe that is bent to the proper exit point. Other brands of mufflers will work. My Dynomax part number was 17155.
Disclaimer:
First, please verify with your installer that this will work. I am no expert and I don't want to get shot down advising you with a 4.6 that an R-spec install is exactly the same. Some 4.6 owners who went this route should chime in.
Good luck!

I got my 17155 Dynomax VT's installed today. Many of my comments are similar to others that have been posted. The mufflers had to be angled to fit, we painted them black to make them disappear, the exhaust note is nearly stock while plodding around town, and start-up sound is awesome. This is a great choice for an aftermarket exhaust that isn't too loud - it is still mature sounding, for those of us who have to watch our professional image and stay on our wives' good side. One suggestion - you may want to stick with a high flow resonator. I trashed mine and installed a Magnaflow X pipe. There is a small amount of rasp while the system is cold. I have MTA quad tips, which make for an excellent finish to the Dynomax system.

Bumping this thread.

I have the Magnaflow Cat-back 16497 on my car.

I have been considering the Dynomax VT 17159 based on the diagram schematics from Magnaflow.

Since mine is an '09 (exhaust tip not built into the bumper), would these fit my vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

Magnaflow has apparently made a catback exhaust for the 2015 V8 Genesis. Soon to come for the V6. Looks pretty sweet - the kit has a center muffler (probably x-pipe muffler) like I put on my custom setup. This should reduce the drone more than any catback system made for the Genesis sedan to date. My bet is this exhaust would be more mild than previous versions for the sedan since most luxury buyers don't want loud and don't want drone, or very little drone. As of today 12/17/2014, Magnaflow shows 9 in stock. The stock exhaust tips are still used, so the Magnaflow butts up to the OEM tips.

Well have gone ahead and ordered the Dyno Max 17155 plus X pipe for my 5.0 engine.

My biggest fear that it passes the Wife test!!

Should have installed between Xmas and New years.

Will let you know the results.

I have the 16497 Magnaflow exhaust on my '09 and was hit and run a couple of days ago.
I have been considering purchasing a 2012 style rear bumper on my vehicle ($20 price difference between the '09). Would the 17155 work on my setup?

Has anyone had any issues with these rattling? I've seen some reviews from as recent as last year that complained of rattling.

Installed in April 2014............. no rattle.

It looks like they used the same OD sized tubing (2.5") for both the 5.0 and 3.8. I feel a little better about electing to use the 2012-14 V8 Magnflow cat-back on my V6. Going too big kills low end torque.

If the diameter was smaller on the new V6

I went custom exhaust my local exhaust shop put it together for me.

2.5 piping X pipe a glasspack on each side to act as a resonator, and magnaflows at the ends it has a small amount of rumble at idle just enough to let you know its a V8, it has some rumble at low throttle but no drone, at least not that I can tell. it sounds good through out the rpm range. I will take a video soon.

I had the Dynomax VT's installed last week and I am pretty happy with the results. Little to no drone, fairly quiet under normal driving conditions (although noticeably louder than OEM) and even fairly quiet under WOT (this is coming from someone used to loud aftermarket exhausts, exhaust cutouts, etc). I think its a great blend for this type of car for someone who wants to hear a bit of bark without ruining comfort in its entirety.

Anyway that someone can put together a video showing different situations with the exhaust? Start-up, Rev, Drive Bys, in cabin? Thanks in advance if anyone is up to it!

There is this video of a 3.8 with Magnaflow exhaust. Could be a nice comparison video when the Dynamax VT video is uploaded.

Xiaphin, that is exactly the type of video that I had in mind! Now lets see if we can get someone to do one for the Dynomax exhaust. Selfishly, I am hoping it is someone with a 5.0l... :)
