  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dynomax VT Mufflers Installed

I am seeing these discontinued everywhere I look? Are they really gone or just went to a new part number?

Gone/discontinued. No new part number.
Only place I've occasionally seen them is on eBay.

Dynomax VT was completely discontinued after they realized that heat would weaken the valve spring until it no longer functioned. People were going around with mufflers that sounded like a couple of tin cans dragging.

Exactly why I didn't buy them, didn't want to possibly have to replace them in a couple of years. I really like the idea of them though

I was an early adopter and early discarder. Made it about 2 weeks before the noises started, 2 months later I switched to Dynomax Ultraflow SS and haven't had issues since.

Any drone? What's noise level at 70-80 mph? Catback or just weld in mufflers?

Don't have a YouTube clip do you? Sorry to hit ya with so many questions...I really want more sound but only when getting on it.

I went with Hooker Maxflow mufflers. They're a great choice if you want the exhaust to be almost stock noise levels when cruising and not be obnoxious when you stomp on it. Being young and stupid, I recently changed them out for a set of Paradox Hot Tamales which are basically hollow. Sounds really good but I need to do something about the drone at 1500-2000

Drone is limited to none, at idle/cruise sound is quiet. At WOT sound is moderate, not tinny or raspy like Mustang people think is cool. It’s not a Genesis, though. Full forged 5.7L LM7 that burned a piston.

Mine is a weld in on a 3” header-back exhaust. No cats. I can get a video but be warned, the engine has currently got 7 connecting rods (of 8) in it. It doesn’t sound so healthy 😂

If its keeping it quiet on that setup a poor little stock Genny should be good lol. Thanks for the clip.

Any drone with the maxflow?
Very minor at lower RPMs under higher load such as going up a hill but nothing that's even remotely annoying. There's something about these cars that seems to induce drone whether it's a lack of trunk insulation or the tone of the engine. I have a friend with a Chevy SS with long tubes and basically straight piped. Still drones way less than my current setup.
